Overcoming the barrier of languages has been a long-held dream of mankind. In cooperation with other institutes around the world, we proposed a framework for speech translation by connecting through networks the speech recognition, voice synthesis, and translation modules that are widely dispersed in the world. At ITU-T, we worked on the international standardization of communications protocols between modules and the data format.
