PSS / WSF GrandParent Family Apartments is a newly constructed building on the corner of
Prospect Avenue and 163rd Street. It provides 50 apartments of supportive housing for older adults
raising children to whom they are related by blood or marriage (for example, grandparents &
grandchildren, aunts or uncles & great-nieces and nephews, cousins)

Eligible households:
 One adult in the household must be age 62 or older.
 All children in the household must be age 17 or younger at the time of admission.
 At the time of admission, the caregiver must have a legally sanctioned care relationship with
each child (for example: legally adoptive parent, legal guardian, legal custodian or kinship foster
care giver)
 The natural birth parent of any minor cannot be a member of the household.
 Low income (at or below 50% of average median income)
Rent: Qualified tenants will pay 30% of their income to rent.

This building is a collaborative development among Presbyterian Senior Services, West Side
Federation For Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc, and the New York City Housing Authority
(NYCHA).

NYCHA Tenants:
File a first step application with GrandParents (so that we may help expedite the process.)
Interested families should file a request to transfer to this project with NYCHA.
Eligible families will be interviewed by PSS GrandParent Family Apartments staff when a
vacancy occurs.
Non-NYCHA Tenants
 File a first step application with GrandParents (so that we may help expedite the
process.)
 Interested families file a special application with the New York City Housing Authority.

applicants will be interviewed by the NYCHA to assure the households have met
eligibility requirements.
 Eligible families will be interviewed by PSS GrandParent Family Apartments staff when a
vacancy occurs.

three senior centers, a caregivers
support program and a kinship program.
