PRESS RELEASE Mannheim, September 2010 VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve in large nominal diameters A highlight that just cannot be missed at the IFAT in Munich is VAG’s DN 4000 butterfly valve. With its striking internal diameter of 4 metres, a height of 4.80 metres, a width of 6.90 metres, a depth of 1.75 metres and a weight of 47 tonnes, the VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve is the largest valve exhibited at the trade fair. Even with the largest nominal diameters, the customer can rely on the consistent premium quality supplied by VAG. The top-quality corrosion protection, ensured by a 250 µm epoxy coating according to the GSK Guidelines, makes the valve permanently resistant to corrosion. The VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve, tried and tested over many years, is available in all standard nominal diameters ranging from DN 100 to DN 4000. Depending on its nominal diameter, it can be used for working pressures of over 50 bars. The double-offset bearing of the disk whose centre of rotation is outside the sealing level both horizontally and vertically protects the profiled seal against deformation and abrasion. The absolute tightness in both flow direction guarantees high operational safety. The double O-ring seal of the shaft bearings, the closed bearing lugs in the axle bearing area as well as a body sealing seat made of nickel weld deposit ensure long-term reliable operation. The VAG-Group can furnish numerous references for this reliability which prove the trouble-free function of the VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve even over decades. The main field of application of the VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve is the local water supply system. From the extraction of water to transport pipelines and water treatment plants up to drinking water supply networks. For decades, the VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve has proven its reliable function also in main cooling water lines of power plants and hydropower stations in many projects worldwide.
