What can you do to rid yourself of negative characteristics?

Unique position of humans
We all have good characteristics, but unfortunately we also have certain bad characteristics. As humans we are sinful. In Romans 3:12 Scripture says: “...there is no one
who does good, not even one” Even our best is not good enough.
Through the death of Jesus
Christ on the cross we have
redemption of our sins. We
are no longer caught in a
web of our sinful nature,
but we are saved through
the blood of Christ. That
doesn’t mean that we are
now without sin, but that
God doesn’t see us as sinful and we can live a life of
thankfulness.
Man is the crown of
creation. Each of us was
A positive self-esteem is imperative because God created you
artfully created by God
(Isaih 44:24). None of us is
the same. The Lord knows each of us by name and has given each of us a task. As his
representatives (stewards) we have to rule over the whole creation. What a wonderful
position we have!

your hands, you put everything under his feet.”
If we can see the wonderful position that we are in, we can’t do anything but live to
the glory of God.
A life full of joy
Paul wrote a letter to the Philippians
while he was in prison. Despite the
dire circumstances that he was in,
he pointed out the new life the Lord
gives those that believe. This life is
the best and brings peace and joy no
matter what the circumstances are.
That is why he can say: “Rejoice in
the Lord always; I will say it again:
Rejoice” (Phil 4:4).
Do we rejoice in the Lord? Do we
realise his mercy? Do we live lives of
thankfulness? As believers we must
With a positive attitude a task can easily be completed
live joyfully. We are saved people.

look past our problems on earth and see our heavenly Father. Nothing will go wrong
with us against his will (Luke 21:18).
Positive attitude to life
What our attitude to life is, is
important. If one is negative it is
easy to see the negative side of
things. When one is positive and
seeks to see the good things in
life, one will.
Some people are very negative
and others are very positive.
One’s circumstances have a to do
with this. Some become negative

others see it as a challenge.

Paul writes in Phil 4: 8: “Finally,
brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is
lovely, whatever is admirable - if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”
If we concentrate on the positive we will see the hand of the Lord over us and we
will praise Him for all his good deeds.
