There is a slide in a park. One of its side walls is painted red with the message, “Dogs
are not allowed in the park”. If the sides of the wall are 6m, 8m and 10m, find the cost
of painting in red at the rate of ` 10 per m2. (2014)
Ans. Since the sides of the triangle are 6 cm, 8 cm and 10 cm, it forms a right triangle.

Find the area of a rhombus whose one side is 20 m and one diagonal is 24m.
(2014)
Ans. In a rhombus diagonals bisect perpendicular.
∴ In ∆DOC, OD = √202 - 122 = √400 - 144 = √256 = 16
∴ Diagonal BD = 16 + 16 = 32 m

Area of triangle = √s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)
Ans. s=

=√30 x 12 x 10 x 8
=√6 x 5 x 6 x 2 x 5 x 2 x 4 x 2
= 6 x 5 x 2 x 2 √2 = 120√2 cm2
6.
Sides of a triangle are 70 cm, 80 cm and 90 cm. Find its area. (use √5 = 2.23) (2014)
Ans. S=
