New Grade Scale Letter Grade Numerical Equivalent GPA Value A

New Grade Scale
The faculty and administration of San Miguel High School decided that the old grade scale that
San Miguel has used for the past several years was inadequate to explain the progress of our
students. Instead of the A, B, C, D, and F grade scale, the grade scale that will be used beginning
this year is an expanded version.

At the end of each semester, students who are enrolled in honors courses or Advanced
Placement courses are rewarded with a “bump” in their GPA values. Honors courses receive a
.5 increase in value. For example, a student earning a B in an honors course will receive a 3.5 in
GPA value points. In an AP course, a student earning a B would receive a 4 in GPA value points.
