In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, Since God is our Father, He has a certain responsibility to His children. Prayer is not talking at God, but with God. Since God loves His children, He will correct them. Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Hebrews 12:6-7 – Because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son. Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? When we call Him Father: I. We express His ____________________. God is not like a father, He is a Father. It was Jesus who told us to call God, Father. 1 Corinthians 8:6 – Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; … II. We expect His ____________________. If you are a child of God, then God loves you too much to let you get by with sin. Hebrews 12:8 – If you are not disciplined ..., then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. In spite of the way we treat and hurt our heavenly Father, He still loves us. III. We exalt His _____________________. A. By recognizing His name. Philippians 2:9 – Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. B. By reverencing His name. Hollowed means to be set apart or holy. When we call Him our Father, we are inferring that we are His children. C. By relying upon His name. John 1:12 – Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 – Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 8:44 – You belong to your father, the devil, ... We can come into the presence of Almighty God because of the name of Jesus.
