Chicago Keeps Growing – June 2012
About
June 28, 2012
Who We Are
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently joined DeVry Inc. President and CEO, and WBC Board member,
Daniel Hamburger to welcome DeVry Online Services to its new Chicago home office at 300 S. Riverside
Plaza. DeVry will bring 600 jobs over nine years to the West Loop neighborhood.
DeVry opened its office earlier this month with more than
200 employees. Approximately 150 of these employees
relocated from other Illinois locations, and 60 were newly
filled positions. DeVry plans to hire an additional 400
employees to work in the Online Services unit in the
coming years.
“Founded in Chicago, DeVry has been an innovative
leader in higher education and a valuable contributor to
Chicago’s workforce development for numerous
years,”
said Mayor Emanuel. “The jobs created at the new
DeVry Online Services location reflect Chicago’s commitment to creating an environment where
businesses can grow and thrive.”
“Chicago is a great city for organizations that need to hire young professionals,”
said Hamburger. “We
could have placed these employees anywhere in the country but we felt the combination of quality talent,
resources and office space made Chicago our best choice.”
In addition to DeVry, many other companies located or expanded in Chicago this quarter, noted in this
month’s Chicago Keeps Growing list:
Aeroterm, a Canadian-based real estate developer, plans to build a new $200 million ‘Northeast Cargo
Center’ at O’Hare, creating 1,200 construction jobs, 1,200 permanent on-site cargo jobs and 10,000
regional jobs.

specialty primary casualty and excess underwriting units and hired a team of underwriters.
