MADD Colorado 444 Lincoln St. Denver, CO 80203 303-425-5902 www.madd.org/co www.walklikemadd.org/denver [email protected] Workplace Fundraising Ideas Denim Days Set up a Denim Day at work! Ask your supervisors, team members, and other department representatives to collect a $5 fee from coworkers who want to wear jeans or casual clothes on the designated day. Your Walk Like MADD coordinator can help you by providing stickers for employees who have paid to wear jeans. Be sure to promote it and place signs and posters up in your organization to explain what you are doing and who it will benefit – your Walk Like MADD Team! How much can I raise? “Serve your Sweet Tooth” Days Everyone loves homemade desserts and everyone likes to make them! Have a contest to judge the best chocolate chip cookie, have your CEO be the judge! Then sell all the entries to benefit your walk team! How much can I raise? If you had a bake sale once a month for a year you could raise about $1,000! More Ideas Auction off an office for a year for those people in cubicles Sell your office services, such as cubicle cleaning, filing, helping out with a major mailing, etc. Have your team be babysitters for a month and advertise through your company’s email. Car washes Hold a silent auction. Encourage co-workers to bring in items they want to be rid of and auction those items off. Use a Goal Board or thermometer to show the company’s current fundraising progress Concession stands at games and festivals Mini-golf tournaments Rummage sales/garage sales Contests Holiday gift wrap service Sell single roses/carnations, etc. Sell company T-shirts or sweatshirts Donation jars in restaurants/banks Pot luck lunches at work Raffle off a reserved parking spot If you held a denim day once a month for a year and 100 employees participated you would raise $6,000! “Water Cooler” Days Have employees gather around the water cooler to take a break & buy bagels, pizza or popcorn on certain days of the week. Or have a team member take up collections for coffee and then do a “coffee run”. You can charge a little extra since you are bringing it to them. You can even do lunch runs and charge $1 to $5 for your services. Additional Tips Brainstorm with your team. Be creative and think of things that can involve the entire company. Advertise your participation as much as possible and JUST ASK PEOPLE! Too often people just don’t know you are having a team or to whom they can donate. A poster on a bulletin board with lots of other posters may not even be noticed, make sure your event information stands out and is different from all the “others”. The more excitement you can create the more people will want to be a part of it! If you’re having fun then your co-workers will too!
