It was the culmination of the entire term’s work. The performance was appreciated by its audience for its truth, its challenges and its sensitive and demanding action, handled with great skill and deep commitment from the class of nine students and the three guest performers. The class was joined by former Drama prac teacher, now singing teacher Leah Thomas, Drama teacher in Term 2, 2014 Philip Wood and Year 10 student Maddy Press. Geoff Cartwright, Drama Teacher Page 8 SCIENCE TRIP TO HASSE SPACE SCHOOL, HOUSTON TEXAS - 2016 During assembly Ms Amy Smith announced this program. For the first time the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia (AGSA) is offering this unique opportunity to member schools for girls to be part of an internationally recognised program. AGSA has partnered with iVicon the exclusive Australasian partner for HASSE Space School. HASSE Space School immerses students in the world’s most profound and impactful STEM environment – that of space exploration and science in conjunction with NASA. Overlaid on this experience is a learning framework that incorporates personal development in areas such as self-motivation and reliance, goal setting, team work, curiosity and imagination… the multi-disciplinary skills necessary to empower our young women to take on the changing technological landscape they will face in their careers and life. As part of our partnership, the Alliance is working with iVicon to organise a composite expedition from our member schools. The plan is for an expedition of both juniors (16 students from Years 7-9) and seniors (20 students from Years 10-12) to head to the USA in the June school holidays in 2016. It is estimated that the cost of this trip will be $8,000 - $10,000 per student. iVicon can also work with the schools to offer families a payment instalment schedule so as to allow families with varying financial situations the ability to participate. To register your interest or for further information, please email Amy Smith ([email protected]) or Kylie Andrew ([email protected]).
