MAP Assessment During the last weeks of school, all Madison Elementary students, kindergarten to 4th grade, and USD #231 students across the district, have taken the Spring Map assessments. This is the same computerized assessment all kindergarten to 4th grade students took in the Fall of 2014 and in January. As a friendly reminder, the MAP assessment is a computerized, adaptive assessment program that provides educators with information they can use to improve teaching and learning. The assessment itself adapts to the student's ability, accurately measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. MAP tests allow teachers to measure individual student academic growth over time, independent of grade level or age. The reports - available to teachers within 24 hours of uploading to the testing site – provide teachers with timely access to information they can use for instructional planning and school improvement. With accurate, timely information on an individual student's needs, teachers can target instruction so every student is learning and growing. These tests provide results that can be used to: • Identify the skills and concepts individual students have learned • Diagnose instructional needs • Monitor academic growth over time • Make data-driven decisions at the classroom, school and district levels • Place new students into appropriate instructional programs. You will be receiving with your child’s report card on the last day of school a report sharing your child’s performance on the MAP. FIELD DAY for all MDE students will take place Monday, May 18th. Please be sure your child is wearing tennis shoes (they may get dirty!) and comfortable clothes for physical activities (they may get dirty!). Please apply sunscreen at home (your child may bring sunscreen to reapply as needed as well). If your child did not order a school sack lunch, please send your child with a lunch from home (lunch for all students will be 11:30 – 12:00). Your child may want to bring a water bottle (please mark their name on the bottle). We still need volunteers – call the office if you can assist. Volunteers and guests need to check in at the front office. MDE 4th graders will be visiting Pioneer Ridge Middle School in the afternoon. Enroll your child for the 2015-16 school year!
