proposed

M a r k e t i n g Order which will include N o r t h e r n New J e r s e y in
t h e area under t h e Order will be
adjourned from Newark, N.J., to
N o r t h e r n New Y o r k n e x t week.
Hearings will be held next
Tuesday a t 10 a.m. at t h e Grange
Hall in Malone; Wednesday a t
t h e Hotel Woodruff, Watertown;
T h u r s d a y at the Hotel Syracuse,
S y r a c u s e ; F r i d a y at t h e Hotel
TJtiea, Utica. All hearings will
open at 10 a.m. and continue all
O F A ' s b a n d will look like a
Wild West Show come next fallproviding' the $3',000 to $4,000
needed for new uniforms is available.
Bids for the new uniforms,
m e e t i n g "pioneed-style" specifications, were opened at last
n i g h t ' s meeting of the Board of
Education.
They r a n g e d from $56.75 to
$8-3.95 per uniform for the b a n d
m e m b e r s and from $103 to
$126.50 for t h e d r u m majorettes.
T h e bids w e r e referred to a
c o m m i t t e e headed b y Mrs. Sue
McDonald, which is to report ton i g h t w h e n t h e n e w B o a r d has
its organization meeting.
The n e w style, according to
Board m e m b e r s , w a s "determined
b y a poll of t h e students who p l a y
in t h e band. It will include
fringed jackets, Daniel Boone
caps and t h e whole western
works. One m e m b e r c o m m e n t e d ,
" t h e vote was sort of railroaded,
too."
Two bids were offered by
F r a n k ' s of Ogdensburg. One offered small size uniforms
for
$56.75, l a r g e size for $64.75 and
m a j o r e t t e ' s costumes, complete
w i t h elaborate head dress, for
$126.50.
The other priced uniforms at
$83.95 and offered a "finer t y p e "
of' $126.50.
The r e m a i n i n g bid c a m e from
Ostwald, Inc. of S t a t e n Island
who offered uniforms from $67.89
and majorette's costumes for
$103'.
Superintendent
of
schools
F r a n k Roda said t h e b a n d would
need "50 uniforms, m o r e or less."
The budget adopted last n i g h t
allots $2,000 for uniforms. The
rest of t h e money" m u s t be raised
b y t h e band. Over $500 has alr e a d y been raised by a physical
education
demonstration
and
"open house" at O F A in the
Spring.
I n other action last night t h e
school b o a r d :
Raised to Step 13 on t h e salary
schedule two m o r e teachers who
h a v e m e t requirements adopted
last m o n t h . They are E v a F l e m ing, Lincoln School, and Louise
Bovard, Madill School kindergarten teacher. The raise amounts to
S300 a year.
Moved Mrs. Helen Robie- to the
master's schedule on salaries.

requested t h e upstate hearings

Cooke, Alexander Foster. Leon
Chapin, North Bangor, president
of t h e D a i r y m e n ' s League Cooperative Association, will present
the case of N o r t h Country producers at Malone.
At the present t i m e Northern
New J e r s e y is not u n d e r t h e Federal Milk Marketing Order which
regulates m i l k prices paid producers in the N e w York Milkshed.
The producers groups of t h e New
York milkshed
contend
that
Northern New Jersey is an integral p a r t of t h e milkshed and
should be u n d e r t h e Order, t h e
s a m e as Westchester County and
Long Island as well as metropolit a n New York. They m a i n t a i n
t h a t t h e lack of regulation of t h e
New Jersey m a r k e t results in a
chaotic m a r k e t i n g condition a n d
depressed prices for New York
producers whose m i l k goes into
N o r t h e r n N e w Jersey.

Mrs. Mooney's a r m is in a cast,
but otherwise she has recovered.
She, her mother and daughter
have been at Pinehurst, -N. C , for
some days and expect to r e m a i n
there this, week w h e n they will
rejoin Mr. Mooney in Raleigh for
the trip North. Mr. Mooney was
seriously injured and u n d e r w e n t
a major operation last week, but
hopes to be able to m a k e the
trip to Ogdensburg. He will have
to m a k e t h e t r i p in a wheelchair
and t h e p a r t y will come b y train.
They expect to r e m a i n in Ogdensburg for several months before returning to their home at
Cleremont, Fla., this Fall.

Lisbon Monday to spend the
