Protect Your Client’s Eyesight and Your Own Imagine seeing your entire life through a dirty window. Imagine how complicated even the simplest activities of daily living would be. For the 22 million Americans 40 years of age and older with cataracts, it’s a reality they face each day. June is National Cataract Prevention Month and a great time for you and your client to schedule an eye exam. A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s lens, blocking light and blurring vision. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the United States. While their exact cause is unknown, the risk of developing cataracts increases with age. The key to healthy vision is regular eye exams. The American Optometric Association recommends semiannual eye examinations for adults ages 18 to 60 and annual examinations for adults 61 and older. Writer John Keats once said, “a thing of beauty is a joy forever.” It’s a lot harder to notice beauty through cloudy vision! Help protect your and your client’s vision by taking care of “both of your eyes.” sliced 1 pint fresh blueberries 3 cups miniature marshmallows Red, White, and Blue Directions: Ambrosia 1. Come December, Anna B will have clocked an entire decade with the agency. And in that time, she has done more than provide a superior level of care. She has bonded with her clients, she has provided solace and security to their families, and she never fails to greet everyone with a smile! The thing that is most striking about Anna is her gentle way. To watch her speak to a client is very reminiscent of how a mother or a grandmother would address a young child. But what’s even more amazing is that Anna marries this kindness with reverence, no matter who she interacts with. She has the gift of making people feel both protected and respected within the space of a single breath. Everyone should have the experience of meeting Anna. Upon the end of Anna’s most recent assignment, she stopped by the office and shared her desire to do more for the family she had grown to love. Anna had already gone above and beyond at every turn. If her compassion is not her defining trait, then it is definitely her humility. She does what she does for personal reward and not for personal glory. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a few moments to salute her right here! Anna starts a new job with a new client next week. The consensus around the office is that Anna is going to fall in love with this family. And what’s even more certain? They will fall in love with her! Anna is that special person that everyone adores. We wish her luck (not that she needs it!), and we wish her the best (because she is!). 1 pint strawberries, hulled and Each Home Instead Senior Care Franchise Office is independently owned and operated. © 2013 Home Instead, Inc.
