150-Mile Club Running Program The 3 Rivers Road Runners and the Runner’s Soul are bringing back our running program to the Tri-Cities for elementary and middle school students. The 11-week program will help get the kids fit as they run a total of 50 miles during the program. At the end of the program on Saturday, May 26th, we will celebrate with a 2-mile group fun run. Each finisher will receive a “50-Mile Club” t-shirt along with a 50-mile club patch to recognize their achievement. There is no cost to the participants for this program, as all costs are being covered by the sponsors of this event…The Runner’s Soul and the 3 Rivers Road Runners. Details of the program are as follows: What? A running program to help young people get fit as they run a total of 50 miles over the 11 weeks of the program. Who? Any elementary or middle school student healthy enough to attempt the 50-mile challenge. When? The 50-Mile Club Running Program starts on March 10th (with the Leprechaun Dash) and wraps up on Saturday, May 26th with a 2-mile fun run. Where? At school, at the track, on the foot paths, around the neighborhood…anywhere it’s safe to run. Why? More than a third of all kids today are overweight and out of shape. Let’s do something together to fight this trend and give the kids a chance at a healthy life. Partner Up! This is a great chance for parent/teacher groups to promote an after school running program and families to get together after work and on the weekends to get fit together. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by! THE RULES ARE SIMPLE: o Run a total of at least 48 miles between March 10th and May 25th and record these miles on the log provided, or make up your own running log. At the end of each week, total up the number of miles run per week. o Do not run or record more than a total of 7 miles running per week. o Have a parent or teacher initial the running log each week to independently verify miles run per week. o To be eligible for the 2-mile run on May 26th, and to collect a “50Mile Club” t-shirt and patch, the runner must present their completed running log at the May 26th fun run. May 26th Fun Run Finale of the Program – check back in early May at the website for the 3 Rivers Road Runners, which is www.3RRR.org to get the details on the 2-mile fun run and register for this run. GET STARTED! If you wait until April 10th to start the program, you will need to run the maximum of 7 miles per week to finish. If you start on March 10th, you can run 4 or 5 miles a week and have your 48 miles total before the May 26th fun run. QUESTIONS?
