The Heartlands Academy will be a key driver to meet the ambitions
of the Heartlands Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP). It
will act as an enabling inter speciality network to support the
delivery of innovation and transformation across the STP clinical
work streams.
The Surrey Heartlands STP includes a commitment to develop the
Surrey Heartlands Academy as a key vehicle to deliver change. Our
goal is to standardise health and social care.
The Academy will:
• Act as the collaborative mechanism for a common,
structured and consistent co-production process to service
design and change
• Challenge unwarranted variation in practice
• Work in close partnership with the Clinical Senate,
KSSAHSN, Citizen groups, Surrey Health Partners and the
Universities;
• Enable current, and future, pockets of innovation developed
by Surrey Heartlands clinicians to grow, drive and deliver
across the Surrey Heartlands footprint to the benefit of
patients.
As Exec Sponsor, I am passionate about clinical leadership. We are
at a critical time with NHS transformation, given the development
and operationalisation of STPs. The Darzi Fellowships offer a
fantastic opportunity, to embed clinical leadership at the heart of the
STP within the clinically networked support of the Heartlands
Academy. The Academy will lead work standardising change
methodology across the STP, removing unwarranted variation and
standardising care. We will identify and spread best practice across
the system. The role will be involved in whole system
transformation, across multiple providers; and will ensure the
system has clinical leaders working together to improve patient
care. My aspiration would be at the end of the year that we would
retain the fellows in clinical leadership roles locally, ensuring a
growing depth of clinical leadership for our future.
