BUG’S HOTEL
SWORD FIGHT!
YO U N E E D :
•
A box, wooden or cardboard
•
Lef tover pieces of plank wood or cardboard to separate the box
into smaller “apartments”
•
Natural materials like pine cones, branches, bamboo sticks,
leaves, hay, seashells
HOW TO:
H OW TO:
1.
Begin by dividing your box into little bug apartments using your
dividers.
1.
Find a good and sturdy branch, it should be as long as from your
hand to the ground, and f it in your hand when you hold it.
2.
Fill each of the apartments with a dif ferent natural material.
Seashells in one apartment, pine cones in another, and so forth.
This will ensure that the bugs don’t bother one another.
2.
Remove the bark, making the stick smoother. If you have some
sand paper, sand it down.
3.
3.
Ladybugs love to hide in old leaves or under wood, while a
butterfly looking to sleep needs a closed space with a small
door way. Bees and wasps love branches with holes in them, and
spiders like rocks.
Make a handle by choosing a smaller piece of wood or a stick.
Hold the stick in your hand, like you would in a f ight, and place
the small stick horizontally right above your hand. Secure it with
a nail - if you have one.
4.
4.
Place your bug hotel under open sky; don’t be afraid of the wind
and rain. Now you can study your new neighbours.
DON’T FORGET to pick up a free magnif ying glass in you name retail
store during the campaign period from 2 Februar y to 30 March 2017.*
Tie your string to the handle and wrap it around the handle,
crossing over the smaller stick ever y other time from each side,
until you have a sturdy handle. Use thick leather string for a
great look!
5.
Decorate to your liking.
* Available while stock lasts

Cotton string
YO U N E E D :

Glue gun
·
A bunch of twigs or sticks. Cut or break them into the same

·
Something pointy to make holes in your f inds
·
String, or long strips of bark to use as string
HOW TO:
HOW TO:
1.
Make the top holder in a star shape by gluing the sticks or twigs
together in two triangles on top of each other.
1.
Tie four small branches together into a square frame .
2.
2.
Now line up as many branches on one side as you can, and one
by one wrap your string or bark around them in an X, securing
them to the square frame.
Tie even pieces of sting to three corners of the star, so the chime
can hang.
3.
Organize your nature f inds into six little piles, each weighing
approx. the same. Make hanging holes through your f inds using
a sharp or pointy tool.
To each star tip, tie a piece of string, and pull your f inds onto the
six strings. Secure each end with knots.
3.
Make sure to tie a piece of string to your raf t, so it doesn’t
escape!
4.
4.
You can decorate your raf t by painting it, or naming it by car ving
its name into the wood.
