Pet Policy
The following animals are allowed in our home:
Cats
Domestic only
Dogs
Excluding those that are a restricted breed
Fish
20 gallon tank maximum
Birds
Excluding birds of prey
Amphibians
Frogs, toads, salamanders
Caged animals
Hamsters or guinea pigs
Crustaceans
Hermit crabs, shrimp
Dogs of a restricted breed, to include any
dog with a mix of any of these breeds:
American Pit Bull
Terrier
Staffordshire Terrier
American
Staffordshire Terrier
Staffordshire Bull
Terrier
Rottweiler
Doberman Pinscher
Chow Chow
Presa Canario
Cane Corso
Neapolitan Mastiff
Wolf

Any dog (of any breed) that demonstrates
a propensity for dominance or aggressive
behavior as indicated by any of the
following types of conduct:
•Unprovoked barking, growling or snarling at people approaching
•Aggressively running along fence lines when people are present
•Biting or scratching people
•Escaping confinement or restriction to chase people

Ex: Snake, lizard, turtle, tortoise, crocodile, alligator, iguana,
komodo dragon, newt, gecko, gila monster
Arachnids
Ex. Spider, scorpion

North Haven requires a $150 non-refundable pet fee for up to two pets due at the Service Members move in or immediately
upon acquiring the new pet(s). All cats and dogs must be registered with the garrison in accordance with USAG-AK
Regulation 210-11 and with North Haven within 7 days of assignment to a North Haven home. Cats and dogs owned by
residents must be micro-chipped. Cat and dog owners may be requested to provide a copy of verification of appropriate
immunization along with pet registration to the North Haven Management Office.
A copy of your pet registration(s) must be returned to your community management office to be placed in your resident file.
Failure to do so will result in a $50 fine for non-compliance of the established pet policies.
No appointment is necessary to register pets at the Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF). Bring a copy of your current
vaccination records during normal business hours. VTF staff will issue your paper work, usually within 2 business days.

If you are not in compliance with USAG-AK Regulations 210-11 and the North Haven Pet Policy as stated in the Resident
Guide, one or more of the following actions may be taken against you:
1. North Haven may impose a monthly fine until you come into compliance with the policies.
2. Your privilege to be housed and/or house a pet on post may be revoked.
3. UCMJ action may be taken for violation of command policies.Please be aware the North Haven and Fort Wainwright
Veterinary Treatment Facility share records and information to ensure compliance to all pet policies on FortWainwright.
