Hans U Staeps Arietten - This is an opportunity to explore some wonderful chamber music
by Hans Ulrich Staeps. The Vier Arietten (Four Little Arias) are scored for descant and treble
recorder and piano. Written in 1968, they were designed 'to provide recorder-players with
something different from the usual baroque trio sonatas'. The music is immediately
attractive, with impressionistic harmony and exciting rhythms. Recorder parts are on the
harder side of moderate, while the piano part is more difficult. Any course participants who
would like to try the piano part are welcome to contact Rosemary beforehand for
information.
