THE SCHOOL
Salisbury Christian School (SCS) is a thoroughly Christian, interdenominational school serving students from pre-kindergarten (age 3) through
grade 12. SCS is FULLY ACCREDITED through Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI). The MISSION of SCS is to honor Jesus Christ by offering a comprehensive educational program founded upon
Biblical truth and academic excellence. The VISION of SCS is to lead students to spiritual, intellectual, social and physical maturity, in
partnership with parents and the church, so that students become disciples of Jesus Christ, walking in wisdom, obeying His Word and living their
faith.

SCS seeks students who desire a Christian education and have satisfactory scholastic and behavioral records from previous schools. The
admissions process includes an application, references, placement testing and a meeting with one of the principals.
ACADEMIC PROFILE
SCS students consistently score above the national average on standardized achievement tests. Students in grades K-8 take the Terra Nova
Achievement Test yearly. All high school students take the EXPLORE, PSAT and ASVAB. On the SAT, our seniors have scored from the
average range (1000) to as high as 1560 (Math and English portions). Students are also encouraged to take the ACT. All juniors are required to
take a college and career research course.
Membership in the SCS Chapter of the National Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society is available for qualified students.
SCS has had one National Merit Scholarship finalist, two semi-finalists and eight commended students. SCS has also had one University of
Maryland Board of Regents Scholar, one three-time Ben Carson Scholar and numerous AP Scholar Awardees and Maryland Distinguished
Scholar recipients.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students must earn twenty-six credits, complete ninety hours of community/missionary service, and complete a senior essay. In addition, for
each year of enrollment between 8th and 12th grades, students are required to read and report on three books per summer, one of which is chosen
by the English Department and one by the Social Studies Department. The students may choose the third book from a recommended reading list.
Credit Requirements: Bible (3 ), English (4), Social Studies (3), Science (3), Math (4), Physical Education (1), Health (1/2 ), Fine Arts (1),
College/Career Research (1/2), Computer Technology (2) and Electives (4). The college preparatory curriculum recommends 2-3 credits in a
foreign language and requires Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES
The following advanced placement (AP) courses are currently available: Literature/Composition, Language/Composition, US History,
Government, Biology, Computer Science and Calculus. Additional AP classes are available on-line as requested.
DUAL ENROLLMENT
Dual enrollment courses are available in cooperation with Wor Wic Community College. World Civilizations I (HIS101), World Civilizations II
(HIS151) and Introduction to Psychology (PSY101) are available on the SCS campus. Other courses may be taken by qualifying students at the
campus of WWCC as scheduling permits.

Spring programs, Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and various community events.

Then There Were None, A Christmas Carol, Annie and
The Music Man. The 2013-14 year will feature Harvey
