Year 9 History Trip to Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre, Newark
The History Department is organising a trip to the Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre near Newark for Year
9 students. The trip will take place on Friday 5 May 2017.
The purpose of the trip is to provide a historical context for the History topic on Genocide and The
Holocaust which students will study after the Easter holidays. While at the centre we will visit the
Holocaust exhibition and the memorial gardens, and students will have the opportunity to listen to a
talk by a Holocaust survivor. This is an excellent opportunity and we would like to take all Year 9
students as we will be doing a lot of follow up work in class after the trip.
The cost of the trip is £18.00, which includes coach travel and entrance to the centre. Students will
need to bring a pen/pencil and a packed lunch with them. We will be leaving school (by coach)
promptly at 8.45am and will return at approximately 4.00pm. Students will be required to wear full
school uniform.
If you wish your daughter to take part in this trip please complete and return the reply slip together
with the full payment of £18.00 to Mrs Grest by Wednesday 29 March 2017. Please place the
payment (cheques made payable to OLCS) and completed reply slip in an envelope clearly labelled
with your daughter’s name and form group.
Students will need a packed lunch. Please complete and return the attached order form for the
catering department by Friday 28th April 2017 if you wish to order a packed lunch from the
refectory. Non inclusive diners may order a packed lunch if they wish, please enclose £3.85 with
your order form to cover the cost.

other students, the members of staff being in the vicinity but not with them. I acknowledge the
need for her to behave responsibly.
