Year 8 linguists visit Paris
On Friday 27th June, a group of 40 Year 8s went on a trip to Paris, France. We set
off at 8am that morning and it was an exhausting, long journey. When we finally got
there, everyone settled in to their rooms. After we met Benôil, the animateur, he took
us outside and we played some mini games.
The next day we were woken at 7am. Once we had finished breakfast, we got
everything ready for the day and made our way towards the coach. We soon arrived
at the Musée de L’orangerie. Then we left having seen the fascinating art. We then
walked to the Louvre just before sitting down for lunch in the beautiful Tuileries
Gardens. After being transferred to the Trocadero down the Champs Elysees, we
went to see a film which told us all about Paris and the city’s story. Next we went up
the Tour Montparnasse where we had an amazing view of the city. We then arrived
at the coach which took us back to the centre for the evening.
On Sunday we had another early start, as after breakfast we got on the coach and
made our way to the Bâteaux Parisiens. This took us on a boat trip passing many
famous monuments in Paris. When the boat trip ended we made our way to the
outstanding Eiffel Tower.
After walking underneath this magnificent piece of
architecture, we all sat down in the gardens and
had lunch. Later, when we got off the coach, we
had to walk up through all the streets to arrive in
Montmatre and the Scieré-coeur. Once we had
spent some time there we headed back to the
coach to be taken to the cite des sciences et de
l’industrie where we watched a French film all
about whales. When the film had finished we
made our way back to the centre for our final
night.
We had a slightly later start on Monday. Once we
were packed and had eaten, we climbed onto the
coach ready to go and do some shopping at
Marne la Vallée. After our time in the shopping
centre we got on the coach for the last time ready
for the long journey home having been part of one
of the best trips ever!
