KS1 Rainforests KS1 Rainforests This resource contains three fun activities to help children find out more about the rainforest animals that live at Marwell Zoo, focusing on their colours, patterns, diet and adaptions. The first activity requires the children to spot particular animals in Marwell’s “Tropical World” and fill in their patterns and markings on the provided sheet. An extension to this activity would be to get the children to describe why the animals may have particular markings. Are they camouflaged? Or is it to show they are poisonous? The second activity requires pupils to look out for rainforest animals at Marwell and think about what they eat (the animals’ locations are shown on the map provided). They will need to choose 3 rainforest animals and draw a picture of them in the photo frames, with a tasty menu in the box next to it. There are signs at each enclosure to give the children some clues, and one example has been completed for them. The third activity links in with Marwell’s KS1 Rainforests workshop, and is best completed as a follow up or extension activity back at school.
