Coloring is an activity that we tend to associate with
children. As we grow older, we put aside our
crayons and colored pencils in favor of more
respectable writing utensils like pens and
highlighters. However, it turns out coloring can be
beneficial for adults—namely for its de-stressing
power.
The practice generates wellness, quietness and also
stimulates brain areas related to motor skills, the
senses and creativity. In fact, publishers have lately
been launching coloring books specifically for adults
and we have them here. Come in grab a colored
pencil and an inspiring coloring page.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH – Frank and Ollie
Thursday, June 15
1:00-2:30 PM
Studio
This month we’ll feature Frank and Ollie: Before
computer graphics, special effects wizardry, and outof-this world technology, the magic of animation
flowed from the pencils of two of the greatest
animators the Walt Disney Company ever
produced—Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. Frank
and Ollie, the talent behind Bambi, Pinocchio, Lady
and the Tramp, the Jungle Book and others, set the
standard for such modern-day hits such as the Lion
King. It was their creative genius that helped make
Disney synonymous with brilliant animation,
magnificent music, and emotional storytelling.
This group features a different artist each month
ranging from classic contemporary artist to current
or outsider artist.

STUDIO SALE
Monday, June 12

Front Entrance Parlor
This special feature film offers an art related movie
or documentary focusing on different happenings in
the art world.
In the documentary film Art House, photographer
and filmmaker Don Freeman explores the handmade
homes created and lived in by eleven distinguished
American artists, shedding light on a unique
architectural typology characterized by a D.I.Y.
aesthetic, the appropriation of building techniques
from art practice, and a fierce spirit of individual
expression that deserves deeper examination in this
age of architectural standardization.
The sale will feature lots of fun items, like fused
glass, beaded jewelry, hand-crafted greeting cards
and much, much more. Contact Jennifer, Art
Program Coordinator if you would like to bring in
baked goodies.
