Isabella County Sportsman’s Club www.isabellacountysportsmansclub.com Mailing Address: P.O. Box 363 Winn, MI 48896 Physical Address: 2872 W. Millbrook Rd. Winn, MI 48896 February 2016 A Message from the President With the start of a new year, our club’s committees have been formed and committee chairs have been selected. Names of the committee chairs can be found in this newsletter and on the information page on our website. One of the committees that requires a load of manpower is the sporting clays committee. Rich Nestle, our sporting clays committee chair, organizes the trapper schedule and makes sure that all of our Sunday dates are covered by supervisors from the clays committee. He also puts in many hours on Sundays running the event. Responsibilities of the supervisors include setting the course in the morning, running the event, and taking the course down at the end of the day. The entire process takes about 7 hours (8:00 am setup – 3:00 shut down). Currently we have about 5 supervisors running the sporting clays course. We could use another 2 or 3 individuals to help lighten the load. If you are interested in sporting clays and would like to join the committee and become a supervisor, please contact Rich Nestle at 989-506-2493. Supervisors shoot for free when working a Sunday. Scott DeFrain ICSC President Kid’s Ice Fishing Derby- February 27th It has been many years since the last one, but the Isabella County Sportsman’s Club will once again be hosting a kid’s ice fishing derby. The ice is thick on the pond and the fish are alive and well. The fish finder found fish down every hole that it was dropped into last week. This event is designed for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade. The fun will happen on the club’s pond on Saturday, February 27, 2016. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at noon. Along with ice fishing, we will have a bon fire, pictures, hot chocolate and snacks, and prizes. To help the day run smoothly, we are in need of volunteers to help with both indoor and outdoor activities. If you are willing and able to volunteer for this event, please call, text, or email Amy McGillvary. You can call or text her at (989)773-9651 or email at: [email protected] If you are bringing kids to fish, please bring your own fishing equipment. We may have some available for use that day, but we cannot guarantee the availability of equipment. All kids must be preregistered by Thursday, February 25, 2016. You must pre-register with Amy McGillvary. Her contact information can be found in an earlier part of this article. Please note: Because of the fishing derby, the trap range will not be open on Saturday, February 27th. League shooters will make up this shoot at a later date.
