As you read and discuss your short story with your group, each person will need to:


Record your own notes, definitions, and literary devices that Poe uses
(loose leaf page front & back minimum OR cover your entire short story margins)
Write a paragraph explaining your interpretation of the mood and tone of the story
supported with specific examples
This paper will be collected from each student at his/her presentation time.
It is worth 14 points.
As a group, you will create a Power Point slide show depicting:
 A plot diagram representing your story explaining the story development
 Examples of two literary devices (ex.: alliteration, assonance, rhyme, simile, metaphor,
personification, allusion, analogy, flashback, foreshadowing, irony, symbolism)
 Definitions of vocabulary in the story
 Summary of the story in one-two paragraphs
 Explanation of the mood and tone of story with specific quotes to support
 Visuals representing your story
Each group will give a short presentation on their story for the rest of the class
These will be assessed during your presentation.
Each person’s section is worth 19 points.
