Start
4 8km/5 miles
Turn L, cross bridge over ‘Big
Burn’. Bear R, take lower track
into woodland, then descend
oblique R turn to side of burn.
Turn L and walk on. Cross
bridge, pausing to look down
into huge ‘hole’ through which
placid burn becomes raging
torrent. Continue on path.
Before next bridge, bear L
through magnificent gorge.
Railed paths and railed
footbridges lead to platform,
projecting into burn below
plummeting fall. Return to
bridge. Cross. Walk on through
gorge, crossing bridges until
path climbs steps away from
river, on through woodland, to
edge of A9.
5 10km/6¼ miles
Climb grassy slope, L, over
‘Little Bridge’ to cross A-road,
with care. Go L for three metres,
then take narrow path, R, to
walk above burn for 500m. At
waymark, descend oblique R to
stile, then track to road. Bear R
to A9, walk L along Golspie main
street. Cross at traffic lights,
turn L, then R to car park.
