Hotel • Golf Resort & Spa recently unveiled the dreamlike Villa del Mar. Surpassing its original
splendor, the 6,200 square metre, six bed-room villa seamlessly blends the majestic qualities of
Andalusian architecture with the latest in contemporary comfort and elegance. Extravagant yet
unceremonious, the villa is ideal for those who desire the service and amenities of the Marbella Club in
the privacy of their own villa.
The villa´s allure stretches beyond the extraordinary attention and comforts offered, the sound of the
gentle waves of the Mediterranean Sea or the floral scent of bougainvillea throughout the grounds: the
villa exudes magic.
From arrival to departure, the experience is tailored to the guest´s personal preferences. The
amenities, activities and services are bespoke and created exclusively for the guest´s stay. From a 24hour butler, maid, and dining staff to personalized packing services to a private spa therapist and
personal trainer. Selections of customized playlists are preloaded onto iPads provided for the guest´s
use. The kitchen and bar are fully stocked with the specific food, delicacies and spirits according to
guest´s personal wish list, preset menus are prepared and personalized floral arrangements displayed.
Those who holiday in the Villa del Mar will see that the Marbella Club truly understands the art of
hospitality and discretion.
One has the option to dine in the villa with the use of a personal chef, order cocktails by the pool from
the dedicated bartender or enjoy an outdoor barbeque on the terrace. Guests can reserve a massage at
sunset, order caviar and champagne at midnight or breakfast before dawn without ever picking up the
phone, as the villa is fully staffed 24-hours a day. Service is attentive, but never invasive. Staff can be
sent off the grounds at a moment´s notice when privacy is preferred and requested when needed.
“The Villa del Mar offers a private vacation experience with all the luxurious amenities one can expect
from the Marbella Club,” says Franck Sibille, Area General Manager. “The villa is a hotel within the
hotel.
It´s character, design, facilities, unparalleled service and discretion provide something
extraordinary and fresh. Comfort, ease and luxury are paramount.”
Originally the home of a Marbella aristocrat who adored simplistic beauty and elegance, the
refurbishment concept was to enhance the villa with modern luxuries but not diminish its enchanted
essence. Famed designer, Jean-Pierre Martel was commissioned to lead the exuberant project in
collaboration with several top international design firms, including Christopher Guy, VG Newtrend,
Zonca, Guadarte, Belar and Menotti, Hugonet to manage the décor. “From the beginning it was clear to
all parties involved, that the refurbishment of this astonishing and unique villa had to be equally
exceptional,” says, Jean-Pierre Martel. “It was of supreme importance that we restored all architectural
features inherent to the very special property, without comprising its intrinsic character.”
Light blues, earth tones and silver hues adorn the grand entrance blending perfectly with the
architecture and ambiance of the villa. Wood burning fireplaces, comfy sofas, handmade silk carpets
and panoramic floor to ceiling windows create an aristocratic yet calming feeling in the living areas.
Bedrooms are decorated in colourful shades and designs, complete with spacious terraces overlooking
the gardens and sea. Andalusian key-hole doors lead to en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers and
deep bathtubs and wardrobes.
Each fixture, statue and artisan mirror has a story. Special care was made to select from and restore the
original stock of artwork and antique pieces, such as Italian consoles, Spanish oil paintings and the
striking grand piano. All mirrored features, ceramics, and carpentry were restored by local Andalusian
craftsmen. Even the wicker works in the main master suite were refurbished by the original artisan. The
textiles were selected from the finest companies in Europe and executed by a master French
upholsterer, whose work includes the restoration of Versailles and the Elysée Palace in Paris. The
extraordinary rooftop is made up of Spanish tejas clay tiles and the patinas and stone paint effects were
created by English paint specialists, Image & Decoration.
The gardens, a focal point for all who enter the villa were originally inspired by Spanish culture and the
beauty of the Mediterranean. Martel enriched the grounds with monumental sculptures by Anthony
Quinn and Antoni Clave, both of world fame, creating a harmonious fusion of styles. Guests can enjoy a
private walk or yoga lesson in the Zen Garden or evening cocktails surrounded by the grandeur of the
Alhambra inspired veranda.
In addition to the lavish décor, surroundings and in-suite services, Villa del Mar guests are treated to
preferred reservations at all on-site restaurants, appointments at the Thalasso Spa and complimentary
tee-off times at the Dave-Thomas designed 18-hole golf course. Guests are also given first preference
when it comes to making reservations for the Marbella Club´s private 18 metre Yacht throughout the
duration of stay.
