The Advent Bible in a Year Reading Plan is designed to help you read
through the Bible in one year, Rally Day 2014 – Rally Day 2015, reading 3 or 4 chapters each day. Many readers find a reading plan helpful
because it gets us into passages that we might not normally read on our
own.
• Reading 3-4 chapters will usually take between 15-20 minutes. If 1520 minutes is too much for your busy day, consider splitting the readings between mornings and evenings, or reading a chapter morning,
noon, and night.
• Remember, the one-year timeframe is simply a guide, not a law. If you
fall behind, give yourself some grace! Just pick up where you left off
and keep going.
• You are encouraged to pray before you read, asking God to reveal
himself to you in his word. Some passages are exciting and profound;
others seem cumbersome, boring, or confusing. Remember that all
Scripture is God’s word to us, and therefore is beneficial and nourishing, even if we don’t understand it right away.
• Read the Bible as it is meant to be read. Let narrative be narrative, poetry be poetry, metaphors be metaphorical, and symbols be symbolic.
Remember to read everything through the lens of the Cross.
