2014 Kissena Junior Meet
Sunday, August 17th – 12pm start
Held under USA Cycling event permit
PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY!!!!
All USA Cycling rules apply. Track bikes only; no quick releases, free wheels, or brakes allowed. Riders must
have a USA Cycling license and be in good standing with USA Cycling. Unlicensed riders may purchase a
one-day license for $15. Juniors with a racing age (age as of December 31, 2014) of 18 and under may
participate; fields will be broken down into the following different age groups: Boys 9-12, Boys 13-15, Boys
16-18, Girls 9-14, Girls 15-18. Youth races for riders under the age of 9 will be offered as well.
The omnium will be based on the top 5 riders in each event receiving 7, 5, 3, 2, and 1 point (except Match
Sprint – places top 3 – 7,4,2). The highest total after all events will be the winner. Top 3 in each age group
will receive medals.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Riders can pre-register until August 17th on BikeReg.com (direct link
will be posted on Kissena’s track web page) or mail in entries that are received no later than August 15th to
Alan Atwood, 62 Timber Ridge Dr, Holbrook, NY 11741. Checks are to be made payable to Atwood Racing
Services. Entry fee is $5 per rider. All fees include USA Cycling insurance surcharges. Number pickup will
be from 11am-11:45pm.
Riders must have parent or guardian present to sign race waiver.

JUNIOR RIDERS UNDER 17: You must configure your gearing to conform to maximum gear limits as
outlined in the USA Cycling Rulebook; 15-16: 6.78 meters (22'3")(48x15); 13-14: 6.36 meters
(20'10.5")(48x16); 9-12: 6.00 meters (19’8”)(48x17)

Explanation of Races
Omnium
 The top 5 riders in each event will receive 7, 5, 3, 2, and 1 point for all eligible omnium races.
 Riders who are disqualified from an event cannot receive omnium points for that event and the riders next in the
standings will move up and earn the higher amount of points.
 A rider who is disqualified from more than 1 race will not be eligible for the overall omnium.
 Ties in overall omnium points will be broken by # of first place finishes, # of 2nd place finishes, and then placing in the
last race that either of the riders participated in.
Time Trial
 2 riders will start at opposite ends of the track on the pursuit line (except for 500m – one at a time).
 The riders do 2 ½ laps for kilos, 1 ¼ laps for 500’s.
 Drafting is not allowed, and is grounds for disqualification
 The top 5 in time will receive standard omnium points for the overall event.
Team Sprint
 2 teams of 2 riders each will start at opposite ends of the track on the pursuit line.
 Each rider of the team will lead one full lap on the track. Once the lap is completed, that rider will pull uptrack in the
designated 30 meter zone (15m before and after the pursuit line) and leave the track without hindering other riders
competing.
 The 2 fastest teams will race again for 1st place (if necessary)
 Other teams will be placed by qualifying time.
Handicap Scratch Race
 Each field will start in a different area TBD by the promoter. Older group will be chasing the younger group and will have
to catch in order to receive omnium points.
 Top 5 overall will receive omnium points.
Points Race
 Top 4 in each sprint will receive 5, 3, 2, and 1 point.
 No double points on final sprints
 Riders who lap the main field will receive 20 points. Riders who get lapped by the main field will lose 20 points.
 Rider with the most points wins the race. Ties in points will be broken by placing in final sprint.
NOTE: The Chief Referee and Promoter will have the right to change the formats of these races at any time to keep the
races moving in a timely manner. Please pay attention to any announcements made during the course of the event.
