fitness instructor Rob Shaw.
Rob has a sporting background
and so it seemed natural for
him to work in the industry with
fitness being of primary importance.

At Seven Islands we
can help you to arrange
a children’s party to remember.
He has been in the leisure centre sector for over eleven
years, all of which have been spent at Seven Islands.
Rob is a qualified level 3 gym instructor and in his fitness
instructor role, Rob’s various responsibilities include
carrying out fitness assessments, working with customers
to give them a thorough and enjoyable gym induction,
design fitness programmes and monitor individual
progress to help customers achieve their goals.

When asked what is special about working at Seven
Islands Leisure Centre Rob replied: “I like the vibrant
atmosphere in our gym and also the opportunity it gives
me to meet new people all the time.”
For relaxation, Rob enjoys being at home with his two
young sons, RJ almost three years old and seven month
old Blake.
Studio, pool and Silver news
Collect your new studio timetable and
read about the 34 classes in the
centre, or take part in our outdoor
running club* on Wednesday and
Sunday as part of our Open Air Active programme.
Your new pool timetable includes swimming sessions for
Jelly Babies, women only, Silver swim, Swim school and
adult lane swims.
Our Silver Active timetable is designed for those who
are over 60 years old. Membership costs £1 per year
and there are a variety of sessions across the six leisure
centres in Southwark. See the studio and pool
timetables for activities at Seven Islands or ask at
reception for more details.
* Weather permitting
We can provide an array of floats and rafts for
the children to play with in the water, or you can
bring your own. Your little ones will be ready for
bed at the end of the day and go to sleep with a
smile on their face.
Party packages cost from as little as £8.00 per
child. Please enquire at reception and book soon
as places are limited.

The operations manager who
keeps the centre running
Simon Cooke has been in the leisure centre
industry for 15 years and has been working with
Fusion since it opened its doors in 2001.
He has held a variety of positions in almost all of
the centres in Southwark. Starting out in Surrey
Docks as a sailing instructor; Seven Islands as a
recreational assistant (lifeguard); moving up the
ranks when he moved to Peckham Pulse and
onto Camberwell as duty manager and then back
to Seven Islands in the same role.
Simon was promoted to general manager at
Camberwell during the refurbishment programme,
and prior to the pool reopening in February he
moved into his new role of operations manager at
Peckham and then returned to Seven Islands.
Calling all 14 to 15 year olds
Want to work out in a gym?
We have a specific programme called
Fit 2 Go for teenagers, with three
sessions to choose from during the
summer.
Students will be given an induction on
the gym equipment first, and instructors
are on hand to give advice throughout
each subsequent visit. Each session costs £1.95 with a
Leisure Axess card and £2.55 without.
Gym inductions take place on Friday at 4.30 to 5.30pm
and Saturday 11.30am to 12.30pm, and gym sessions
on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4 to 6pm, and on
Sunday from 12pm to 2pm.
