The Authority of the Believer
Dr. Michael A. Freeman
For the next few months, I’ll be speaking to
you on the authority of the believer. Genesis
1:26 tells us that we have been created in His
image and His likeness. So, whatever we read
about Him refers to us. The way God sees you
is different from the way you see yourself. You
have been your own worst enemy because you
have not been describing yourself based on
the biblical description of Jesus. Start looking
at yourself through God’s eyes, because
whatever God says, that’s so!
Whatever you read about Jesus, you’ve got to
apply to yourself. If He is now heir and lawful
owner of all things, so are we. Hebrews 1:3
says, “This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is
stamped with God’s nature. He holds everything
together by what He says – powerful words!”
(The Message). When you take the authority
that God has given you, and add it to the
things you say about yourself, that authority
will bring your words into manifestation.
See, that is the very reason why God can’t
lie, because everything He says will become
what He says. That is why He’s not going to be
wasteful with His words. He only speaks when
He has to speak because He knows that the
creative force of whatever He wants to come
to pass, will come to pass. That’s what He did
with you. He took the nothing that you were,
called you something, and now you are more
than what you used to be.
If you will start talking like God talks, and call
things which be not as though they were, your
world will begin to change. That’s why He said
whatever you bind on earth will be bound in
heaven. Whatever you will not allow, He won’t
allow; whatever you loose, that’s what He will
loose. And He said, if one jot or tittle of His
word fails, heaven and earth will have to pass
away. That’s why you have to be careful about
what you say.
As sons and daughters of God, the scripture
calls you equal with Him; not as it relates to
placement, but as it relates to authority. So
don’t be moved by what you see, be moved
by what you believe. Do you believe that you
have the authority of the Father living in you?
When you lay your hands on your children,
your project, or your business, do it with the
understanding that things cannot stay the
way they are.
Genesis 1 says that you’ve been created in His
likeness and image. If you don’t allow society,
circumstances, conditions, experiences, and
the lust of the flesh and eyes to cut out who
He is in you, you’ll be able to talk like He talks
and walk like He walks. This is the authority
upon which God’s throne is established. Stop
wasting your words; speak victory and leave it
there. Go on about your business and watch
it come to pass. Behold! I speak to you a new
day, in every area of your life. Welcome to the
dimension of authority!

How to be free from offense
Assistant Pastor Dewayne Freeman
We have been forewarned by Jesus that offenses
are going to come. Now, there may be some of you
who believe that you can pray that offenses will
not come visit you; however, the enemy will always
look for someone he can use to bring offenses your
way. You cannot control that. What you can control,
my friend, is how you handle
yourself in that moment.
Assistant Pastor Dewayne
continues to teach us that
preparation prevents poor
performance. This is why
Christians allow themselves
to become offended. They
simply have not prepared
themselves for the arrival
of the offense. If Jesus has
already warned us that
offenses are going to come,
why not prepare for the arrival, or better yet, be
prepared not to be thrown off.
Offense is designed to throw you off the Word.
Peter told Jesus in Matthew 26:33 that even
though all men would be offended because of Him,
he [Peter] would never be offended. However,
Jesus had to let him know that on THAT very
night he would deny Him THREE times! Peter had
the nerve to tell Jesus He was wrong. Peter was
approached by several people who recognized him
as one of Jesus’ followers and they questioned him.
Peter was offended by these people and through
that offense, he denied his Lord.
Friends, there is good news! We don’t ever have
to be offended. The Word of God promises that

we can do ALL things through Christ Who gives
us the strength [Philippians 4:13]. That includes
overcoming offense. In Luke 22:32, Jesus even lets us
know that He is praying for us that our faith remains
strong and does not fail. We CAN be free from
offense. In the natural, that may seem impossible
but we have been given the
power and the authority to
overcome offense.
WE CAN DO THIS, but there
are some things that we
need to know in order to be
free from offense until Jesus
comes again:
1. We must commit to the
Word [1 Peter 2:21-23]
2. We must recognize
offense for what it is…a trap!
3. We must make ourselves
of no reputation [Philippians 2:4-7]
4. We must refuse to replay the event over and
over in our mind [2 Corinthians 10:3-5]
5. We must show [agape] love to the person who
has offended us [Matthew 5:44]
Love is the only antidote to offense. Jesus tells us
what to do when we are offended. We are to love
the people or person who has offended us. We are
to love them unconditionally.

Let’s Do the Work!
September is the month where we celebrate Labor Day. It was originally
created to celebrate various labor associations’ strengths and contributions
to the United States economy.
Now days it has become just another day of rest or an extended weekend. Many people mark Labor Day
as the end of the summer season, and a last chance to make trips or hold outdoor events. The original
purpose and intent of giving employees the 1st Monday of September off in celebration of Labor Day has
been forgotten.
Pastor Mike has been teaching us on the “Authority of the Believer”. He shared that the primary purpose
of our authority is not to be used to just believe God for things (cars, houses, healing, etc.), but our
primary purpose is to go and make disciples (Mathew 28:19-20).
Just as the intent for the establishment of Labor Day should not have been forgotten, our authority in the
earth to do the work of the ministry shouldn’t be forgotten.
So let’s get to work! Because one day very soon, the Lord Jesus Christ is going to have a “Labor Day” and
He will not forget to celebrate your labor of love.

The Believer’s Authority in
Prayer
Minister Deborah Grant and the Partners Praying Together team invite you to come out to the next Corporate Prayer
session on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 7 p.m. at our Brandywine and Howard County locations.
Join us as we exercise our authority as believers by praying the Word of God. As you know, God responds to our prayers
when we pray according to His Word in faith! We are using the following as foundational scriptures for this prayer
event:
• Psalm 115:16 (MSG): “The heaven of heavens is for God, but he put us in charge of the earth.”
• Luke 10:19 (AMP) “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions,
and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any
way harm you.”
• Mark 11:23-24 (NLT): “I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown
into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you
can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
• 1 John 5:14 (KJV): “And this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his
word, he hears us...”
To prepare for this exciting evening of prayer, we are fasting from eyes shut on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 until 6 p.m.
on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and meditating on Psalm 115:16, Luke 10:19, Mark 11:23-24, and 1 John 5:14. To

WIN Ministry September Financial Tip
Many Christians are in a financial crisis because we don’t prioritize our financial obligations. Keep first
things first. After you give your tithes and offerings, pay yourself, then pay your bills. Then, and only
then, can you spend leisure money. If you don’t have extra money after this order, then don’t spend
what you don’t have by co-mingling money, or putting money on credit cards that you really can’t afford
to pay (Proverbs 17:18).
Unfortunately, for most Christians, we pay ourselves, then our debt, and then God if we have some
money left over. This is how we get behind on payments, damage our credit, and snowball our financial
crisis. Then we call on God; once we have voluntarily put ourselves in a financial crisis.
Create money envelopes for things you like to do after you pay your bills, such as: entertainment, dining
out, shopping, etc. Don’t co-mingle money from one envelope to another. Once the money is gone,
endure to the next pay period or transaction so that you can stay on course with your financial obligations.
This will assist you with keeping your credit worthiness in check, (Proverbs 22:1). Be disciplined in your
spending, or be a slave to your bills (Proverbs 22:7)! It’s never too late, so start today!

service. A Baptism Ministry representative will call you to provide more
information and to schedule your baptism date. Please remember that
all baptism candidates must arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. on their
scheduled date. A Helping Hands representative will meet you in the
foyer and escort you to the waiting area. Candidates arriving after
5:30 p.m. will not be permitted to participate in the baptism service for
