Directions and teacher notes for USI.5b
• Copy the templates front to back, so that the title page/map matches the graphic
organizers for each colony. Each student will need 3 front to back copied pages, with
each copied page making a half-book about one colonial region.
• Students fold each copied page in half, hamburger fold, to create half books about
each colony.
• Have student shade in and label the colonies that were part of each region on the
map.
• Have students complete the questions posed in the graphic organizers.
• Direct students to draw illustrations about life in each colony in the two drawing
boxes, adding non-linguistic representations for some of the information about each
regional colony group.
