1 THE CLOVER CONNECTION October 2015 MSU Cascade County Extension General 4-H News Please help us to welcome Scott Maunu and Abigail Litchliter. Scott will be helping us part time in the front office to field phone calls, walk-ins, and answering questions. Abigail has accepted the position as the new SNAP-Ed Manager for Cascade County. We are very pleased with our new personnel and know they will do an excellent job. Please stop by to introduce yourself and welcome our new staff members. Please also be supportive and understanding that it will take time for them to learn their new positions and acclimate to our office. 2015-2016 Enrollment New enrollment forms are ready! Feel free to stop by the office and pick yours up. You’ll notice we gave the forms a make over that will make them easier to fill out as well as make them easier for us to put into our new online system. Cascade County 4-H S.P.A.R.C. Summit Get ready for the first Strategic Planning and Review Committee Summit set for November 1314th. The objective of this summit is to IGNITE our 4-H program and SPARK ideas to help us grow and maintain relevance in our community. Each club will be receiving an informational letter and invitation for delegates to attend this fun, yet important event to review our 4-H program, set goals, and create a plan for the future of Cascade County 4-H. This process will be a three part process. The first step is a survey that is included at the end of this newsletter that ALL 4-H affiliates (members, parents, leaders, and alumni) are asked to fill out and submit to the Extension Office. We will also send this same survey out over email via Surveymonkey.com for anyone who would prefer to fill it out electronically. Surveys are anonymous but will prove to be very valuable in reviewing our program. Please take the time to submit your survey. The second step will be the Summit itself. We will have an outside facilitator come to lead the process and assist the group in cultivating ideas into an action plan. The third and final step of the review process is to engage our members, clubs, and community with our action plan. Get ready to see our program set off like a FIREWORK! We look forward to your candid feedback, ideas, and support in moving our program into the future in a BLAZE! If you have any questions about the process or would like to know how to be involved, please feel free to contact Rose or Jerrica at anytime, otherwise keep an eye out for your club’s informational letter and formal delegate invitation. Please write than you notes to trophy and award sponsors, (Check the bottom of the Sharon Dawson, Cindy Berg, Bob Berg, Dave Chandler and Jamie Williams for organizing and managing the Dairy Booth fundraiser. They put in an unbelievable amount of time to ensure that we had all the supplies and workers needed to have a successful Dairy Booth. They were at the Fair everyday to support all the clubs and manage the finances. The funds raised from the dairy booth provide approximately 25-30% of the operating budget of the Foundation each year. The Foundation assists in covering the cost of your project manuals, awards, accident insurance, registration and travel for trips such as Junior Leader Camp, Rec Lab, Leader Forums, Congress, National Congress, Citizenship Washington Focus, chaperon fees and so much more! While working in the booth, members learn customer service skills, sanitation skills, work eithics, develop skills to put on a resume, and they enjoy the camaraderie of working together and working as a team.
