The Judment of Osiris

ife in the Hereafter was not full insured so in the graves were placed
copies of the Book of the Dead with formulas for a fertile and
prosperous life in the hereafter.
Mummification was the process discovered by egyptians, it was very important to reach the
afterlife, it was included embalming the body. It is an expensive process (only reach people can
afford it) and it takes seventy days.
The book of dead is a group of scrolls
that gives information about the Afterlife, it
prevents the ka (soul) about the dangers that it
can find in the journey and how to avoid them. It
includes formulas to pass the tests of gods.
The judment of Osiris is important to
reach the afterlife.
The heart of the ka (soul) is balanced
with the feather ( It is an ostrich feather) as a
symnbol of the goddess Maat ( the goddess of
judment, it represents justice and order).
Osiris was the god who presided this trial
and he was in charge of doing the balance. This
was because he died as a man and resurrected as
an immortal, this was because of the powerful
words of Toth.
The process of mummification was:
First they take the body. They
break the brain with an object, then
they put it in a bowl.
Then they get outside the
body all the organs but they leave the
heart because “ it´s the organ of life”
and the person will need it in the
other world.
They put the internal organs
in four jars “ The four sons of Osiris”
called “ Canopic jars” were they
conserve the interbnal organs.
They put resin in the hollow
they did to take the internal organs
out of the body.
They put makeup in the
body.
Then they put the body in
salt and they leave the body forty
days , then the body is not humid and
they can embalse it.

If
the balance is
positive it means the ka
(soul) had a good life and it
can reach the Afterlife. If the
soul pass the test could
choose to stay with Osiris or
return to earth. If the
Egyptian choose to return to
Earth it has one condition, at
night turn to another world,
where there was light. A formula allowed him to stop
the boat, traveling down it, and go anywhere on the Champs
Elysees. In the morning, again in the boat it will return, but with
body of bird and head of human where it stays until the arrival of
next night.
If it doesn´t balance ir means you tested negative it
means the ka (soul) had a bad life and it can´t reach the afterlife
and it´s heart will be devoured by Ammut. It goes to the second
death. If ammut doesn´t devour the soul´s heart it was doomed
to the underworld where it will sufferd before being definitively
annihilated. This death was a threat to the ordely world.
When it pass the tests the decease is finally allowed in the Beyond, where it can have
eternal life and live in Paradise.
OSIRIS
Osiris was the son
of Ra, he was the primary
deity and he was the god
on Earth. He was the
husband of Isis and he was
also the father of Horus, (
He was a number of other
gods in some stories ).
Osiris
was
represented with green
skin,
representing the
colour of vegetation and
regeneratio, because he
was the god of agriculture,
he was also the god of dead
and because of that he was
represented by a mummyshaped body. He was
dressed with white
clothes with a shroud. He
was sceptre and flail. He
was the first mummy and
his tomb was located in the
island of Biggeh, only the
initiated
had
access
because they agreed it was
a sacred place and they
called it Abaton.
