MATT THORNTON, AIA, LEED AP
Although Matt is originally from the “not-so-big” town of
Armstrong, he may very well be the “biggest” architecture
practitioner in town, standing 6-foot 8-inches tall.
Matt Thornton received his Bachelor of Architecture from
Hammons School of Architecture at Drury University. Matt
studied architecture in Volos, Greece for a semester and
was nominated twice for Drury’s Librarium award for best
studio project. He is a life-long musician and was active
in the instrumental music programs at the university. Matt
now gives back to the community through “The Kitchen” by
serving on their building committee.
Matt joined Dake Wells Architecture in 2008. At the firm,
Matt is responsible for project design and management ,
visual communications, and production on several projects.
He also poses as “computer guru” when the occasion
arises.
Before joining Dake Wells Architecture, Matt worked for
a couple of medium-sized architecture firms in the area,
as well as for the City of Springfield. He was involved with
design and development of several area banks, health
care, restaurants and low-income housing developments.
Matt has managed many projects at locations across the
country for a local corporate entity.

athletic activities, but has yet to play professional basketball
(he would rather be fly-fishing at any of the area trout
parks). And actually, your car seat will not go back any
further.
