EL INFORMANTE
Español at CNS
octubre 2016
Pre-K/K
Ms. Kathy’s Spanish class has continued
learning how to count from 1-10. The kindergarten group has even gone on to learn
numbers 11-20. We have read stories to
help us learn numbers, as well as sing
songs and play games. In the last week,
we have talked about Hispanic Heritage
Month and other countries that speak
Spanish. They have been working hard to
learn their song they will present at our
celebration, “Bate, bate, chocolate.”

In Ms. Melissa’s Spanish class, we
have learned more about each other. We learned how to say: a few
actions we can do, our age, numbers, and the days of the week. This
class enjoys singing, watching videos, and coloring. For the past week
we have been learning about Hispanic Heritage Month, a few notable Hispanic Americans, and their
contributions to our culture.
Hispanic Heritage Month Hello CNS families! Welcome to October! We are smack dab in the middle of Hispanic
Heritage Month, which is celebrated from September 15October 15 each year in the US. It is a time to recognize and
celebrate the rich culture and tradition of Latinos in the US, as
well as the contributions they make to our culture. CNS will
host our very own Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Friday,
October 14 at 10:45am at the school. All families are invited to
attend. There will be presentations from each class, food,
and student work on display. Hope to see you there!
In Ms. Carla’s Spanish class,
4th-8th
we have learned a lot in a short
amount of time. In Level 1 Spanish, we have
learned numbers, how to say our age, how to talk about
our feelings, and even a few things we like or don’t like
to do. We have played games, held conversations, and
made “emojis” (see below). In Level 2 Spanish, we continued our review of previously-learned skills by talking
about likes and dislikes, the classroom and our school,
and describing ourselves. We have drawn pictures, put
on skits, interviewed our classmates, and written about
ourselves. In the last week, both levels have come together to learn more about Hispanic Heritage Month.
We have talked about heritage, culture, and what it
means to be Hispanic or Latino. We will still be learning
together in the next few weeks as we continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
