The U16’s will start with the women and mixed long course but will turn at a different buoy within the bay. The minnows and u12’s will race in the river whilst the women’s and mixed long course is in progress. The u14’s will start with the men in the short course but will turn at a different buoy. Please log onto www.aocra.com.au and nominate your club and your teams. Team Registration closes midnight Sunday 30th April and Crew nominations close Wednesday 3rd May. LATE FEES WILL APPLY Senior OC6 $120.00 per team. PLEASE SEE AOCRA WEBSITE FOR CURRENT REGATTA RULES AND COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY. FOR EQUIPMENT RULES PLEASE SEE AOCRA WEBSITE. CANOES WILL BE SCRUTINIZED BEFORE THE RACE BRIEFING AND RACE START. IF YOUR CANOE DOES NOT MEET THESE SPECIFICATIONS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RACE. ALTERNATIVE COURSES Please note that there are alternative courses available should the beach break be too dangerous or the open ocean be too rough so, irrespective of conditions, paddlers should get a race. FOOD Our highly acclaimed quality food to suit all tastes will be available on the day. Gluten free options will be available, all at reasonable prices. (There are 2 unloading zones this year). Please note: Rigging of canoes only possible once transported from car park to beach. No fitting up in Trailer Carpark Area. Vehicular access to Noosa Main Beach is prohibited by the Noosa Council. Please follow traffic controllers instructions as you enter Woods Park at the end of Hastings Street. We request that those clubs who own canoe trolleys bring them to assist moving canoes. We will have club members tready to assist in unloading upon your arrival. Some Important Changes to our beach location The NOOSA council have built a garden where we normally have our catering facilities so these facilities have now moved out toward the beach on the RHS of the path leading to beach. Please note the grassed area LHS of path leading to beach or next to showers is out of bounds. Parking on the road leading to beach will be scarce as we need to leave parking for other beach goers. 9 SQ ZONE OC6 M A R AT H O N SERIES South Queensland Zone Regatta rules March 2017 Are you allowed to compete? Paddlers are reminded of AOCRA’s rules and regulations regarding participating in AOCRA sanctioned events. Individuals (OC1/V1) and teams (OC6/V12) are only permitted to take part in said event if recognised as sanctioned competitor/s, which means: 1.The individual/team has registered and paid for the event through the AOCRA website, 2.The individual/team captain, have signed in at the registration desk and provided racing canoe number, 3.The individual/all team members, are current financial member/s of an AOCRA affiliated club, and 4.The individual/all team members, are current financial member/s of AOCRA. Due to insurance implications, if the above criteria is not met, you are to stay off the race course. Non-competing paddlers are not to use the event courses for training, coaching or recreational paddling in club or personal craft while competitors are on the course. Rules for OC6/V12 Club events To ensure competitors abide by this rule, and to foster a spirit of fair competition between competing club crews, action will be taken by the SQ Zone committee for any breach of this rule. Specifically: • It is the responsibility of the person signing in the crew to ensure that only club members are registered for the crew. • It is the responsibility of the captain of the crew to ensure that only club members compete in their crew. • It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that their members are aware of the rules regarding participation in CLUB events and that only bona fide club members compete in their crews. 10 Layout: Stacey Phillis GRAPHIC FORCE 07 5448 2448 Photography: Bob Lennox As this is an AOCRA sanctioned club event all paddlers MUST be members of the same club as recorded in the AOCRA membership database prior to registering to race.
