LEASING HEATS UP FOR ATALANTA REALTY INVESTMENTS’ INNOVATIVE RETAIL
DEVELOPMENT, “THE GATHERING PLACE IN KAPOLEI”
Honolulu/Kapolei, Hawaii, August 22, 2014 – Atalanta Realty Investments, a real estate
investment and development firm founded in 2013 by Managing Principal Jennifer N.
Taylor, is attracting unprecedented interest from prospective retail and restaurateur
tenants for the planned development, “The Gathering Place in Kapolei,” a new 55,000square-foot lifestyle center in Kapolei. The Gathering Place in Kapolei’s two two-story
buildings and five one-story buildings on 4.46 acres will be centrally located at the gateway
of the Kapolei Parkway, near Kapolei High School, Kapolei II Elementary School and the new
University of Hawaii Kapolei West Oahu campus.
With the Gathering Place in Kapolei scheduled to open in Spring 2016, Atalanta reports that
the firm is already receiving a lot of interest from prospective tenants. As such, the
developer anticipates that the new center will welcome shoppers with appealing, one-of-a-
kind retail amenities, wares from local artisans and an innovative mix of first-to-market
retailers and restaurateurs, seasonal events, greenbelts and rest areas, a pop fountain play
area, and more. Atalanta envisions a lively environment complete with one-of-a-kind shops
and amenities and an inviting design that invites shoppers to “stay awhile.”
Atalanta Realty Investments, based in Southern California, has a long, successful experience
in the Hawaii commercial real estate market and sensitivity to local tastes and culture. The
Gathering Place in Kapolei is the crown jewel of Atalanta’s growing portfolio in the state.
Atalanta’s signature is to take an innovative approach to shopping center design,
architecture and ambience. “We are excited to bring a new concept to the island, combining
Kama’aina architecture and a Hawaiian sense of place with global sophistication, that will
make The Gathering Place in Kapolei a popular destination,” Taylor said. “We anticipate that
this groundbreaking project will influence future developments in Hawaii, as well as raise
the profile of Kapolei,” she added.
Atalanta’s community plans and outreach, still under wraps and to be announced soon,
include inviting the public to participate in a project that will highlight the local cultural
appeal of The Gathering Place in Kapolei. Atalanta’s unique approach to merchandising is
one of the draws for prospective tenants, says Wendell Brooks III, senior vice president and
leader of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hawaii Retail Brokerage team. “The Gathering Place’s
marketing efforts have generated tremendous activity and this project is proving to be one
of the most inquired about,” said Brooks. “Atalanta stands out as one of the most interesting
and creative developers in the state. The firm saw, and is taking advantage of, a special
opportunity to bring a whole new level of distinction to the West Oahu community lifestyle,”
he added.
