Underlying theme – The Holy Spirit
Theme Title: Good morning Holy Spirit
Preamble
In this theme we are changing gears from the outward working of the Holy Spirit through us,
healing, gifts of the Spirit etc (the “doing”) to the relationship and life He brings as we spend
time with Him (“Being”).
The key emphasis is on relationship, getting to know His personality and allowing Him to
influence who we are.
We want people to picture and articulate what the Holy Spirit would be like were they to
meet Him and spend time with Him in person? Please structure the lessons so they are full of
personal discussion.
Would He be someone you liked? Would He be trustworthy? Funny? Wise? Patient? Kind?
Would He be someone you would like to spend time with? Would He be the type of person
you would like to be like?
We really want to bring the person of the Holy Spirit alive in these lessons and then as a
practical application, an understanding of who we are being transformed into if we yield to
His Spirit and allow Him to live in and through us.
Jesus is our example of what it looks like when someone is fully yielded to the Holy Spirit
and we will look to His example throughout these lessons.
It is important that people do not come out of this theme feeling they need to “do more” to
be like the Holy Spirit or Jesus, but instead realize that just as in natural relationships, the
more you know someone and love them, the more they rub off on you and therefore you
take on their nature or characteristics. It’s not something we do, it’s someone we become.
