Minimum requirements for admission of researchers

Area Coordinator
One of each subject matter (Human Genetic
Variability,
Oncology
Genomics
and
Pharmacogenomics). Main activities include:
a) Coordinating and facilitating scientific
activity performed in his/her area.
b) Supporting and promoting the
collaboration
of
the
Principal
Investigators of his/her area with the
Principal Investigators of the two
other areas.
c) Supporting and promoting the
scientific and technical collaboration
between research groups of his/her
area and sector companies.
d) Supervising the fluid communication
between the different research teams.
e) Informing the management, whenever
requested, of the scientific activities
performed in his/her area.
f) Helping the Scientific Director in
execution of strategic plans to
implement the research results of the
centre in the Andalusian Public Health
System.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
o Be Principal Investigator of active
projects funded by calls for competition.
The sum of the funding obtained in the
last 3 years, through these projects, must
be of at least €300,000.
o Have participated as Principal
Investigator, at least once in the last 5
years, in a R&D+i project in
genetics/genomics applied to health,
funded by an international funding
agency.
o In the last 5 years, at least 70% of the
total funding of the projects in which
he/she participates as Principal
Investigator, must correspond to R&D+i
projects in genetics/genomics applied to
the health
o Be Principal Investigator of an active
project (funded by call for competition)
in accordance with one of the lines
prioritized in the centre.
o At least 50% of the scientific production
in the last 5 years must correspond to
works which use genetics/genomics
health applications. These works must be
published in scientific journals indexed
in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) of
the Institute for Scientific Information of
Thomson Scientific (Thomson ISI).
o At least 50% of the scientific production
of the last 5 years must be published in
journals of the first quartile of one of the
areas forming the Journal Citation
Reports (JCR) of Thomson ISI,
irrespective of the area they fit into.
o In the last 5 years, the position of
authorship of at least 45% of his/her
scientific production must be as
corresponding author.
o Must have participated as Principal
Investigator in a project in cooperation
with the industry, at least once in the last
5 years.
Consolidated Principal Investigator
The PIs will be the head researchers of each
research group. They must have active
projects in research lines belonging to one of
the areas. They have full research
independence, with own personnel and
funding. GENYO’s PIs shall be divided into
Emerging
Principal
Investigators
and
Consolidated Principal Investigators.

Emerging Principal Investigator
o
The Emerging PIs are researchers who,
although they do not meet the conditions of
Consolidated PIs, manage a research line of
one of the centre’s groups, with competitive
funding and own staff.

Be Principal Investigator of at least one
active R&D+i project in
genetics/genomics applied to the health.
This project must be funded through
calls for competition.
At least 10% of the scientific production
in the last 5 years must correspond to
works which use genetics/genomics
health applications. These works must be
published in scientific journals indexed
in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) of
the Institute for Scientific Information of
Thomson Scientific (Thomson ISI).
At least 35% of the scientific production
of the last 5 years must be published in
journals of the first quartile of one of the
areas forming the Journal Citation
Reports (JCR) of Thomson ISI,
irrespective of the area they fit into.
In the last 5 years, the position of
authorship of at least 20% of his/her
scientific production must be as first
author.
Associate Researcher
Principal Investigators of a research group in
Andalusia that are associated to GENYO but
who perform their activity in another centre or
institution. They can use the centre facilities,
as well as choosing the same funding
instruments, both of personnel and equipment,
as the rest of the centre’s Principal
Investigators (under agreement between
GENYO and the parent institution of the
associate researcher). For the purposes of
rights and obligations they will have the same
position as the other Principal Investigators in
the centre, although to maintain their link with
GENYO they must maintain active
collaborations with some of the PIs physically
located in it.

Head of Research Support Unit
o
They will be the heads of scientific
management of the services of his/her Unit. In
turn, they will be the centre’s Principal
Investigators and, as such, must perform lines
of research with competitive funding.
o
Be Principal Investigator of active
projects funded by calls for competition.
The sum of the funding obtained in the
last 3 years, through these projects, must
be of at least €200,000.
Have participated as Principal
Investigator, at least once in the last 5
years, in a R&D+i project which uses
genetics/genomics health applications,
funded in a call for competition with at
least €70,000/project.
Have, at least once in the last 5 years, a
R&D+i work published which uses
genetics/genomics health applications.
The publication must be produced in
journals indexed in the Journal Citation
Reports (JCR) of the Thomson ISI.
At least 50% of the scientific production
of the last 5 years must be published in
journals of the first quartile of one of the
areas forming the Journal Citation
Reports (JCR) of Thomson ISI,
irrespective of the area they fit into.
In the last 5 years, the position of
authorship of at least 35% of his/her
scientific production must be as
corresponding author.
Given that they will be Principal
Investigators, they must comply at least
with the minimum entry criteria of the
Emerging Principal Investigator.
Demonstrable experience, through
scientific publications, in the use of the
Unit’s own technological platforms.
