Standard Quotation No. Automated Pensky Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Analyzer HFP 339 Fuels have different components from light to heavy hydrocarbons. The flashpoint method gives information about the light components by their tendency to flash. It further gives important information on safety and shipping regulations. The HFP 339 is a fully automated instrument which perfectly mimics the manual process as described in the following methods: ASTM D 93 A&B, ISO 2719 A&B, EN ISO 2719 A&B, DIN EN ISO 2719 A&B, NF EN ISO 2719 A&B, IP 34 A&B, JIS K 2265, DIN 51758 The Instrument has a built in microprocessor system which controls all functions of the unit. Operation of the instrument is done via easy to read VF-Display and a solvent resistant alpha numeric keypad. This easy to use man machine interface lets the operator quickly initiate standard flash point testing, change test parameters to run customized protocols, run the systems diagnostics, and recall or print test results. Main Features ¾ Flash point determinations may be run using standard test method or customized test protocols ¾ 6 Standard programs and 3 user-defined test programs. ¾ Tests for samples with unknown flash points. ¾ Automatically corrects results to barometric pressure. ¾ Memorizes the last 9 Flash Point results ¾ Built-in safety functions ¾ Built in fire detection system with audible alarm and external alarm relay contact. ¾ Thermal flash point detection eliminates any interference from water or silicone containing samples. ¾ Electric ignition (standard) and Gas ignition (option) HFP339 Technical Offer 22.8.2006 Page 1 of 15 Technical details Standards ASTM D 93 Methods A&B, ISO 2719 A&B, EN ISO 2719 A&B, DIN EN ISO 2719 A&B, NF EN ISO 2719 A&B, IP 34 A&B, JIS K 2265, DIN 51758 Configuration Stand alone automated Pensky Martens flashpoint analyzer HFP 339 Sample Temperature Measurement Glass Pt 100 probe, Metal Pt 100 available as a plug in accessory. Temperature range: +0 … +400°C, resolution 0.1°C +32 … +752°F, resolution 0.1°F Each measurement program can be individually programmed in °C or °F. The system perfectly mimics ASTM 9C/9F, 88C/88F and 10C/10F-standardthermometers. Probe can be calibrated on the display Automatic calibrating of the electronic circuit with integrated, high precision calibration resistors eliminates temperature and long term drift of the temperature measuring unit. Cabinet/Chassis All steel, baked epoxy resin coated: electromagnetic isolation, solvent resistant. Width only 25 cm (9.85”) Sample Heating System 950 W, conforms to CE safety specification. Air cooled at the end of the test. Heating Rate Control Automatic proven algorithm controls temperature of heater block and sample. Heating Rate Per appropriate method or user-defined programmable from 0.5 to 14 °C/min for individual measurement programs. Sample Stirrer Stepper motor operated stirring. Per appropriate method or user-defined programmable from 20 to 255 revolutions/min for individual measurement programs. Igniter Reliable electric igniter comes as a standard. The unit monitors the correct function of the electric igniter. Gas ignition is optional available. The Gas flame is automatically ignited by an auxiliary electric igniter. Ignition Interval Per appropriate method or user-defined programmable in 0.5 to 5 °C steps Barometric Pressure Built in barometric pressure sensor makes automatic pressure correction of the flash point temperature data. Indicated as mbar, hPa, kPa, mmHg or Torr. Flash Detection System Thermal detection system to eliminate interference from water or silicone containing samples. Display A 2 line 20 character VF-Display gives information about the status of the HFP 339. The HFP 339 lets you quickly initiate standard flashpoint point tests. You are also able to easily calibrate the instrument, generate methods and review past test results. Keyboard Operation of the instrument is done via a 25 button solvent resistant foil keypad. Result Documentation Test results are displayed on the VF-Display and can also be output automatically or on demand to an optional printer or computer system (LIM). Printer HFP339 Technical Offer A typical report includes the Sample ID, Date and Time, Measurement Program, expected Flash Point, measured and corrected Flash Point and barometric pressure. Any printer with CENTRONICS® interface and ASCII character set may be 22.8.2006 Page 2 of 15 Printer and LIMS crosslinking of several units used. To save space a small footprint needle ticket printer is recommended (see accessories). In order to connect several units to one PC with a Laboratory Information System (LIMS) or to a printer, the units can be linked together as a Herzog Token Ring network (HTR). It is possible to link up to 16 units. Connect with cable (626-082) to the socket „HTR“ at the back of the instrument. Communications Serial transmission of all data via RS232 and HTR (Herzog Token Ring) protocol. Results memory The instrument stores the last 9 test results with Sample number and flash point temperature. Test Programs 6 standard programs and 3 user defined programs Safety Features Fire Extinguisher Fire Safety — A built-in fire sensor located next to the lid cover alerts instantly to flames outside the flash cup. A potential-free alarm relay contact is also available to link the HFP to a fire suppression system or alarm bell. Safety pre test By doing safety pre dip ins the unit can detect high volatile contamination in normally high flash point samples and avoid a risk of fire Alarm Functions Automatic detection of method or safety violations. User selects test termination or alarm message Password Protection Password protection is available to prevent inadvertent changing of programmed test parameters and calibration. Calibration and Diagnostics The instrument incorporates a comprehensive diagnostic program which allows you to check every key component and assembly. In addition, it features a selfcalibrating sample temperature measuring system that automatically compensates for drift. Any probe deviation can be corrected on screen calibration of resistance thermometer.
