Development events. Feel free to make copies. Make the teaching personal and relevant for your leaders.
As we walk into the future, eagerly awaiting Christ’s return, the Bride is making herself ready
for this long awaited event. How will the Bride make herself ready?
 By growing up. (maturing)
 By returning to her appointed places of service.
 By discharging her duties and commitments.
 By taking dominion.
The Complete Christian Dictionary for Home and School defines dominion as “authority to rule
or control.”
Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary defines dominion as “supreme authority.” Supreme is
defined as “highest in rank or highest in authority.” Authority is defined as “power to influence
or command thought, opinion, or behavior.” One who is walking in dominion could be said to
be one who is highest in rank and has power to influence or command thought, opinion, or
behavior.
Dominion is first mentioned by God in Genesis 1:26.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have
dominion (power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior) over the fish
of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every
creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” NKJV
And again in Genesis 1:28,
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth
and subdue it; have dominion (power to influence or command thought, opinion, or
behavior) over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing
that moves on the earth.”

God delegated to man (male and female) the right to rule or control the earth. However, when
the fall occurred, man gave his delegated authority over to Satan. Jesus came and restored
authority back to women and men who walk in right relationship with God.
D ELEGATED A UTHORITY
What does delegate mean? Delegate means “to entrust to another; to appoint as one’s
representative.” We are God’s representatives on earth, the Bride of the coming Bridegroom.
He has given us delegated authority to walk on earth as His representatives. It is authority to
rule and to reign on earth as it is in Heaven.
Since Aglow International began in 1967, women and men have been walking in dominion or in
authority in their towns, states, and nations. Through the power of prayer, by declaring the
Word of the Lord, and in speaking forth prophetic promises, those in Aglow and the Body of
Christ have watched as the lost are saved, the sick are healed, the dead are raised, provision
comes, revelation increases, and the list goes on. God designed us to reign on earth – on earth
as it is in Heaven.
Walking in dominion or taking authority are not new terms to those familiar with the Aglow
ministry. Jane Hansen Hoyt spoke these words during a leadership development session in
2006, encouraging Aglow leaders to walk in dominion:
Expansion is coming. Expect it. God is saying to Aglow, “Get ready, and in your getting
ready, rise up from the place where you are. Stand and begin to walk the length of your
land –your community, your region, your nation. Begin to take the land.
Even as He spoke to Abraham, ‘Arise Abraham,’ it was a summons to arise, to begin to
walk the land, to look at the land, and walk the length and breadth of it. We are to
move out in our towns and villages and begin to take authority aggressively in places
where we see injustice and sin. We are to call things back into right alignment with
Heaven.

H ANDOUT
As God’s representatives on earth, we walk in authority that He has given to us through Christ’s
completed work on the cross. This authority, purchased by the death, burial, and resurrection of
Jesus, gives us the right to reign and rule on earth as it is in Heaven.
With the words that Jane Hansen Hoyt spoke to the Aglow family at a leadership development
session in 2006 before you (see below), list up to 5 ways your team is taking authority in your
community, area, and/or nation.

During the 2009 International Conference in Louisville, KY, Graham Cooke spoke on moving from a
place of petition type prayer to a place of proclamation where we are aligning with Heaven by
proclaiming prophetic words/promises that have been spoken to the ministry, to our teams, and
over our nations and communities. List up to 7 proclamations your team is speaking or proclaiming
during times of prayer that are in alignment with prophetic words or promises over the ministry of
Aglow locally or corporately.
