OCR RESIDENT’S NEWSLETTER March 2017 Issue 1 Editorial Introduction T his is the first issue of Grapevine, a monthly newsletter for residents, informing you of what’s happening at the Resort. We also need you to let us know what’s happening at your place that may be of interest to your neighbours. For example, recently a “lost” kangaroo looked into someone’s kitchen window while a snake was spotted hanging about in a couple of our homes and, how did that frog get into our wardrobe? Jennifer Law On behalf of the residents of OCR we offer our sincere condolences with the passing of Jennifer. May she Rest in Peace. There is a home that lies beyond, and past its golden door, awaits the one who's now away, not lost, just gone before. And in the home that lies beyond, the Master will prepare, a place for you, and when he calls, you'll meet your loved ones there. John Bath, Editor This is your Newsletter – your Comments, Letters to the Editor and Contributions are invited. Please email to Ray Cooper, [email protected] Written submissions should be dropped off to Bob #4. Ron in action Looking for something – Use the OCR Residents Guide. www.ocrresidentsguide.com.au One click of the mouse and you can access all about the Resort and what’s happening. The Guide has all sorts of information from a listing of 30 activities (must be something there for you) to upcoming events, what movies will be showing in the theatre, items for sale, a photo gallery celebrating past functions, a trade directory, a residents to the rescue list of residents who can help with just about anything, and the Residents Committee Constitution. You can send emails through the website to other residents as well; just email your information to Geoff at [email protected] Grapevine #1 March 2017. It's a juvenile Queensland Grouper and a protected species. They grow to 1.5m. This one was caught on a Squidgy soft plastic. It went back in so all you fishing experts; it’s still there just waiting for you. Trevor has travelled around the country with quite a few of our residents. He is part of the main prize at our trivia events and the winning table will share him until the next event. With this in mind, we thought it might be a bit of fun for Trevor to ask a question in the Grapevine specifically about places in our wonderful country, so for the first one. ..... Karen Twigg 3 OCR Motor Bike Riders visit Ken Barsby OCR Thursday Walking Group Ken Barsby is well known in and around Kempsey and was a resident of OCR till his health dictated he needed to be in an Aged Care facility, where he could be cared for. We are a dedicated group who enjoy a social morning coffee after a walk (or a walk, then coffee) to one of the many beautiful locations around Port followed by coffee. Watch out for the Schedule of Walks emailed at the start of each month. For further information, contact Ray #133. Eight riders went to see Ken and it was a pleasure to see the smile on his face when he viewed the bikes. Ken was excited to show us his room which is in a first class facility. I am sure there will be other visits to see him. Gary #20. Annual General Meeting (AGM) The Residents AGM was held on Friday 24th February with 109 residents attending.
