INFORMATIONAL MEETING Dates Drop Off: June 7th | 2pm | Vintage City Church Pick Up: June 9th | 5pm | Vintage City Church Location Spiritual Solitude There is nothing quite like secluding yourself in the vast wilderness and being surrounded by mountain vistas and the smell of pine trees mixed with the fresh mountain air! The Creedmore Lakes are nestled in the trees and mountains of the Roosevelt National Forest just north of Red Feather Lakes (about 1.5 hours from Fort Collins). Cost: $20 Due: On or before June 7th There will be two main times each day for the kids to spend time with God. First, in the morning the kids will get up early, make breakfast together and then find a quiet place to watch the sun rise and listen to God free from distractions. Then, in the evenings we will gather around the campfire for worship, teaching and reflection. Be sure to send them with a journal and Bible because they are going to need them! Communication There’s no cell phone reception at Creedmore Lakes, but you will be able to track our GPS coordinates on the kid’s page at vintagecitychurch.com. 2015 Student Leader Camping Trip 1 Clothing All of your student’s clothing should fit in their backpack. • Base layer. Wet or sweaty cotton takes forever to dry, so choose a “technical” fabric, such as moisturewicking polyester or wool. Gear Checklist: Bible, Journal, Pencil or Pen Backpack (for snacks, clothes, water bottle) Sleeping Bag & Pillow Sleeping Pad (optional) Warm Clothes (especially for sleeping… it will get chilly!) Waterproof Jacket Flashlight Snacks: (Trail Mix, Granola Bars, Dehydrated Fruit) • Mid-Layer. For insulation. Avoid cotton or denim for the same reasons as above. • Outerwear. Even if dry weather is forecast, bring a rain jacket. Being wet= being miserable. • Long Underwear. It can get cold at night—bring an extra layer for sleeping. • Footwear. Lace-up shoes that can get dirty. If you bring sandals, make sure they have straps—the trails will be rough so “flip flops” are a bad idea. • • Socks. Wool or synthetic hiking socks are ideal. Bring extras so your others have time to dry. Pack Smart. We are packing everything back to camp. The more you bring, the more trips we make. 2015 Student Leader Camping Trip Water bottle Meals Breakfast: Oatmeal The kids will eat breakfast in groups of 2-3. These groups will share quiet time, prayer and build relationships each morning. Lunch: Sandwiches//Trail Mix//Fruit Leathers We will have lunch on the go each afternoon while we are out hiking or playing. Dinner: Mountain House Backpacking Meals The kids will help each other make dinner before we gather around the fire for worship and community. Snacks Kids are on their own for snacks. Good snacks include: Trail Mix, Granola Bars & Dehydrated Fruit. Avoid Jerky (bears like it too). 2 Expectations for Students No Wining It’s easy to point out all of your discomforts especially when you are sore, tired, hot or hungry. Keep the trip fun for everyone by choosing to have positive attitude! Team Work We will need help with cooking meals, filtering water, setting up camp and more. Everyone will need to do their share of the workload. Comfort isn’t the Priority This won’t be camping at the Hilton. Expect to get dirty, cold & wet. It is all part of the fun! Listen & Respect We are going to be camping in a remote location and it is vital to everyone’s safety that they listen and respect whatever the leaders say. Items We Still Need Depending on how many students register for the trip, we might still need the following items. Please contact Pastor Brett if you would like to let us borrow any of these items. 4x4 SUV (with clearance) 2 JetBoils 1-2 Tents (6 person or more) Emergencies As we mentioned earlier, there is no cell phone reception at Creedmore Lakes. In the event of an emergency, we will use our SPOT to contact the local authorizes for help. We will also use SPOT to “check in” each night so you know we are safe. You can follow our check ins and exact GPS location on the kid’s page at vintagecitychurch.com. 2015 Student Leader Camping Trip 3
