Dear Parent / Carer,
This half term our maths targets are focusing on numbers. Any additional practise that you are able to do
with them at home is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support,
Level 5a – Identify differences between negative and positive numbers
Your child will know that after zero when counting back the numbers become negative. They will also
know that the larger the negative number, the further away it is from zero.
Common difficulties occur when finding differences between negative and positive numbers.
Practising counting on, stopping at zero and then adding the jumps is an effective mental method.
