Alban: Alban is situated in the heart of French River on highway 64, 3 km off highway
69, south of Sudbury. This town is a bilingual village of approximately 750 households
(1200 residents) in the winter months and up to 2000 or more during the summer
months. This picturesque clean village is a beautiful place to live or visit at any time of
the year. It has most of the services required to fulfill everyday needs for its visitors and

heritage.
Noëlville: Noëlville is the central hub of the Municipality of French River that is
economically based on farming, tourism and logging industries. This also bilingual village
is easily accessible and is located at the crossroad of highway 64 and highway 535.
Noëlville is home to 1500 permanent residents with many more spending the summer
months at local cottages or tourist lodges. With this small town comes all the necessities
residents need such as a grocery store, banking facility and a 24 hour detachment of the

Refers to the relationship between a person's usual place of residence on Census Day and his or her usual place of
residence one year earlier. A person is classified as a non-mover if no difference exists. Otherwise, a person is classified
as a mover and this categorization is called Mobility status (1 year ago). Within the category of movers, a further
distinction is made between non-migrants and migrants; this difference is called migration status.
2
Non-movers are persons who, on Census Day, were living at the same address as the one at which they resided one
year earlier.
3
Movers are persons who, on Census Day, were living at a different address from the one at which they resided one year
earlier.
4
Non-migrants are movers who, on Census Day, were living at a different address, but in the same census subdivision
(CSD) as the one they lived in one year earlier.
5
Migrants are movers who, on Census Day, were residing in a different CSD one year earlier (internal migrants) or who
were living outside Canada one year earlier (external migrants).

3.5 Net Import & Export of Labour Force
The next table highlights industry sectors in which there is a net “export” or “import” of
labour. In 2006, there were 965 jobs in French River, and an employed resident labour
force of 1,045, indicating that French River was a net “exporter” of at least 80
employees. The net export/import calculation is simply the number of jobs in each of
French River's industries minus the number of French River's residents working in that
particular industry. It is important to note that the export/import numbers indicated
under-represent the actual numbers of employees, as this calculation assumes all of the
employed resident labour force in that industry works in French River.
The size of the French River employed resident labour force exceeds the jobs available in
almost all industry sectors in French River except educational services.

Quality of Life
Have you ever heard the call of the loon emerge from the mist of a crystal-clear lake?
How about feeling the excitement of a 15-lb walleye tug the line from your reel? Nothing
compares with the soul-restoring benefits of nature's playground, and it's all here in
French River.
Blessed with incredible natural beauty, French River offers endless adventures and
attractions – breathtaking cruises, white quartzite mountains and numerous historical
sites.
