Helium-Neon (HeNe) Laser F R E Q U E N C Y A N D I N T E N S I T Y S TA B I L I Z E D The 633 nm Frequency/Intensity Stabilized Helium-Neon (HeNe) Laser uses a highly refined thermal compensation technique to provide an excellent balance of high output power and stability, low temperature sensitivity, and reliability. An extremely versatile research and instrumentation tool, it can toggle instantly via front panel control between intensity and frequency stable modes. In intensity stabilized mode, the HeNe laser will operate as an output power reference, with the stability of < ±0.2% (1 hour), while in the frequency stabilized mode, frequency stability as low as < ±3 MHz can be obtained over an 8 hour period. Utilizing enhanced designs and superior optical components, the laser delivers unsurpassed operational stability and lifetimes. The mirror quality and performances are optimized to result in the highest quality HeNe lasers available in the market. This high-performance laser is supported by a one-year warranty. Design Note Stabilized HeNe Laser Advantages • Operates in either stable-frequency or stable-intensity mode • Long term (8 hr) frequency drift 3 MHz maximum • Typical intensity stability better than 0.2% absolute (1 hour) • Superior output power (>1.5 mW version available) from single line, linearly polarized output • Long coherence length • CE Compliant Applications • Interferometry • Holography • Laser Doppler anemometry • Spectroscopy A Proprietary design and manufacturing technology deliver a highly stabilized and quiet signal, immunity to ambient temperature drift and >1.2 mW of clean, stable and reliable output power. Designed for many applications where the temperature environment cannot be rigorously controlled, the frequency stability specifications include both a specified frequency range per time interval and per temperature interval. With superb temperature sensitivity, Newport’s Intensity-Frequency Stabilized Helium Neon (He-Ne) laser achieves reliable stability over the widest range of conditions. Choose Operation Mode Depending on Your Application Frequency stability for long path difference interferometry, metrology, holography, spectroscopy and frequency marking. The short-term frequency stability of the laser makes it an excellent choice for interferometers with unequal arms. With the coherence length on the order of 100 m, the helium neon (He-Ne) laser is ideal for large depth-of-field applications in holography and metrology. Frequency stability further enhances coherence length for critical measurements or exposures. Intensity stability for surface texture characterization, velocimetry, scattering and polarization. The simple, one-button intensity lock ensures highly stable (less than 0.1% over short intervals) output power, ideal for applications where optical signal strength varies with changes in the test subject. Examples include surface scattering, profilometry, and single axis velocimetry. • Inspection systems • Medical imaging • Flow cytometry Mounts sold separately Cylindrical Laser Mount assembly with Rod and Rod Clamp Helium-Neon (HeNe) Laser Specifications Frequency Stabilized Mode R-32734 R-39727 Frequency Stability (MHz) 1 minute ±1 ±1 1 hour ±1 ±1 ±2 ±2 Intensity Stability (%) 1 day (8 hr. period) ±1 ±1 Frequency Shift with Temperature (MHz/°C) <2 <2 Intensity Stabilized Mode Intensity Stability (%) 1 minute ±0.1 ±0.1 1 hour ±0.2 ±0.2 Frequency Stability (MHz) 1 minute ±3 ±3 1 hour ±5 ±5 >1.5 >1.2 Either Mode Output Power (mw) @ 632.8 nm Beam Characteristics Beam Diameter (mm) at 10 cm from front bezel 0.7 0.7 Beam Divergence Full Angle (mrad) <1.2 <1.2 Spatial Mode Polarization TEMoo TEMoo Linear >800:1 Linear >800:1 15 - 30 15 - 30 General Specifications Temperature Range to Maintain Lock (˚C) Time to Lock (min) Power Requirements <30 <30 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz < 40 Electrical Power Consumption (W) < 40 CDRH Class IIIa IIIa CE Certified Yes, 3R Yes, 3R ULM or ULM-TILT ULM or ULM-TILT Suggested Laser Mount Dimensions Laser Head Size [in.
