Criteria and Guidelines
What: Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD) invites you to enter our Tagline Contest! What is a
tagline? A tagline is a short slogan – 3 – 6 words (give or take) – that captures what we do and why it is important to our
member communities. Previous CVSWMD taglines have been: “Leading Member Communities to Reduce Waste,”
“Toward Zero Waste,” and “Zero Waste Central.”
Why: CVSWMD does a lot more than its name implies. Look over our website: www.cvswmd.org to get an idea of the
recycling, composting, school programs and other support we provide. We need a catchy, memorable tagline that
captures the essence of what we do and makes it relevant to our residents.
When: Entries will be accepted until February 15, 2014, after which time CVSWMD Executive Board and staff will review
entries. Once an entry is submitted, the tagline becomes the property of CVSWMD and may appear on CVSWMD’s
website and social media. CVSWMD will announce the winning entries by February 28, 2014.
Who: This contest is open to residents of the following 18 member towns of the CVSWMD: Barre City, Barre Town,
Berlin, Bradford, Calais, Chelsea, East Montpelier, Fairlee, Hardwick, Middlesex, Montpelier, Orange, Plainfield,
Tunbridge, Walden, Washington, Williamstown, Woodbury.
Prize: There will be two winning taglines. One submission will be accepted from individuals under 18, and one from
individuals over 18. The creators of the winning taglines will each receive a $50 Visa Card prize. CVSWMD reserves the
right to not find a winner if the taglines do not meet the organization’s needs.
How: CVSWMD will accept up to three taglines per participant. Enter by posting to:
Facebook: post your tagline on our Facebook page. Facebook name is Central Vermont Solid Waste Management
District. You can post it on our page or as a message; include name, age or grade if under 18 and contact info in the post.
Email: email your entry to [email protected]. Include your name, age or grade if under 18, and contact info.
Snail Mail: Include your name, age or grade if under 18, and contact info and mail your entry to:
