Gizmo Install Guide Introduction Welcome to SunRocket! Before you begin please make sure you have a working and active Internet connection. Slide the prong clip into the gizmo power adapter. Phone 1 Power on the gizmo by plugging in the power adapter. The gizmo is ready when the PHONE 1 light on the top of the gizmo is green. This may take up to 2 minutes, as the gizmo needs to register with SunRocket's system. When the PHONE 1 light is solid confirm your Internet connection. You may need to restart your computer. 3 Making Phone Calls • Make your first phone call to SunRocket’s Welcome Number, 240-786-0222, to learn how to log into your new account and activate your features. 2 to Internet port on gizmo gizmo Phone 1 Single Computer No Router Set-UpSteps Modem connects to Internet port on the gizmo Existing Computer DSL/Cable Modem gizmo Phone 1 1 Set-Up • Unplug the power to the modem. • Using the provided Ethernet cable, connect the Ethernet port on the modem to the Internet port on the gizmo. • Connect the Ethernet port on your computer to the Ethernet port on the back of your gizmo using your own Ethernet cable. • Plug your phone cable into the PHONE 1 port on the back of the gizmo. 2 Power Cycle • • • • Power on the modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to reboot. Slide the prong clip into the gizmo power adapter. Power on the gizmo by plugging in the power adapter. The gizmo is ready when the PHONE 1 light on the top of the gizmo is green. This may take up to 2 minutes, as the gizmo needs to register with SunRocket’s system. • When the PHONE 1 light is solid confirm your Internet connection. You may need to restart your computer. 3 Making Phone Calls • Make your first phone call to SunRocket’s Welcome Number, 240-786-0222, to learn how to log into your new account and activate your features. 3 DSL Users: Enabling PPPoE If your DSL provider requires “User Name & Password” authentication, you will need to change your PPPoE configuration. (PPPoE stands for Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet.) Be sure and check with your provider first to find out if changing your PPPoE configuration is necessary. DSL users who are not required to enter a User Name & Password as part of their normal DSL experience should go directly to the basic installation instructions shown on the previous pages. 1 Connecting • Connect your computer to the Ethernet port on the back of the gizmo. • Open a web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 into the url address field. 2 Enabling • • • • • Select "WAN Setup" on the left hand side of the screen. Select "PPPoE" from the Connection Type drop down menu. Enter the user name in the PPPoE Login Name field. Enter the password in the PPPoE Login Password field. Click the "Submit All Changes" button. 3 Begin Installing • Once you have enabled PPPoE, please follow the appropriate setup instructions for your gizmo installation. • Please note, if you have a router you need to access your router’s configuration and disable PPPoE and enable DHCP, or “Obtain IP address automatically.” See your router manual for instructions. 4 5 PHONE 1 PHONE 2 ETHERNET INTERNET Right Panel INTERNET PHONE 1 DC 5V Power PHONE 2 Left Panel PHONE 1 PHONE 2 ETHERNET INTERNET DC 5V Power INTERNET PHONE 1 PHONE 2 The Lights (on top of the gizmo) Technically, we’re supposed to call them LEDs (light-emitting diodes). Here’s what they mean: LED Label Blinking State Ethernet Phone 1 Steady - Green Off Blinking - Green Off Steady - Green Off Description The device power is on. The device power is off. The link to your Internet connection is active. Blinking indicates actvitity. The link to your Local Area Network (LAN) is not active. The device is finished configuring and will make and receive calls. The device will not make and receive calls. The Ports (on the side of the gizmo) Port Label Description Phone 1 Phone 2 Ethernet Internet Power Connect your primary phone to this port. Please DO NOT connect “Phone 1” to a live telephone wall jack. Doing so will result in damage to the gizmo. This port will not be operational. Please DO NOT connect “Phone 2” to a live telephone wall jack. Doing so will result in damage to the gizmo. Output to your computer or router. Input from your DSL/Cable modem or router. Use only with the included 5V power adapter. Warning: DO NOT connect a telephone cable between “Phone 1” or “Phone 2” and a live telephone wall jack. Doing so will result in damage to the gizmo. 5 65 Troubleshooting Tips Having trouble? Try these simple tips. If these do not help, go online to SunRocket.com/install or call us at 1-800-786-0132. First, Check Cables and Connections: 1. Check that all your cables fit securely into the appropriate jacks. 2. Check all your power connections and that you are using the correct power adapter that came with the gizmo. (Power adapters vary.) 3. Confirm that the Ethernet cable provided by SunRocket is connected between your modem and either your router or the gizmo and that the Internet light is lit. 4. Check to make sure your telephone is plugged into the gizmo’s PHONE 1 port and that the PHONE 1 light is lit. 5. If you are using a cordless phone, make sure it is fully charged. Next, Try Power Cycling: 1. Physically disconnect the power cable from your modem. The power needs to be off at least 2 minutes. 2. Shut down your computer, router (if you have one), and gizmo. 3. Plug in your modem and wait 60-90 seconds. 4. Plug in the gizmo and wait another 60-90 seconds. 5. Apply power to the router and wait 60-90 seconds. 6. Restart your computer. 7. Check for a PHONE 1 light, dial-tone, and Internet connection. 6 Assemble Power Adapter Slide prong attachment piece into the power adapter assembly.
