Expectations for Students

How Can You Help?
▪ Get to know your student’s teachers & communicate
with them.
▪ Get involved at school:
- Join PTSA
- Volunteer
▪ Check your student’s log book daily.
▪ Monitor PowerSchool through the Parent Portal.
▪ Provide a quiet study time and place at home.
▪ Know your student’s friends and his/her parents.
▪ Attend Curriculum Night (August, date TBD) and
Student Led Conferences (October, 22 & 23).

leave his/her belongings
unattended. Make sure your
student’s name is written
in/on EVERYTHING. Do
not share locker
combinations with “friends”.

What Will Happen on My First
Day of School?
▪ Opening Day for all students is
August 18, 2016
▪ Students wait in the front lobby until
the 1st bell rings @ 7:50 AM, at which
time they may go to their locker and
report to 1st period/Homeroom.
▪ The first day of school is modified so
students have an opportunity to meet
the school staff and learn about the
building.

What’s for lunch?
▪ Bring a sack lunch at
first.
▪ There are lots of healthy
and tasty options.
▪ All 6th graders eat at the
same time.
▪ Weather permitting,
students may go outside
at the end of lunch.

What if I Ride a Bus?
▪ Riding is a privilege.
▪ Know your bus number.
▪ Get to your locker and get
outside quickly at the end of
the day!
▪ The buses leave promptly.
▪ Rules for the bus are the
same as the classroom.
▪ Where is my bus? Check the
white board.
▪ Staff are on duty to help.

Electronics
▪ Cell Phone Policy – no use in class
w/o teacher permission.
▪ Use in study hall for academics only
with permission.
▪ Students are not to make calls during
school hours. We request that
phones be stored in lockers when
not in use.
▪ Urgent messages can be left with
school secretary.
▪ If your student feels ill, he/she
should go to the clinic. If necessary, a
call home will be made from there.
